The years passed by quickly for the happy little family.
Matilda Tumblefoot grew like a weed. Before anyone realized what had happened, she was a teenmousager. And, much to everyone's surprise, she had become as graceful as her big sister.
Timorous Beastie had been very happy taking care of Tumblefoot when he and Begonia got married, but now he wanted a family of his own to raise. Often he would dream of having a son. He could teach him so many things: none of those Cat and Mouse games for his mouse. He could teach him really challenging things like Hickory Dickory Dock . And he had Hobart and Tumblefoot to help him.
You can imagine how proud and happy he was when Begonia told him the news. There would indeed be a little mousie very soon......just what he had been dreaming of.
Everyone scurried about the little house preparing for Mousie's arrival. Timorous Beastie began to build a mousinette. Olivia Begonia began to knit infant mouse blankets and booties. Hobart gathered extra berries and sold them to earn enough mousecash to buy a carriage for the baby.
Matilda Tumblefoot did a lot of mousesitting so that she'd be able to help her sister.
The little family waited and waited and waited. Not only were they waiting for the little one to arrive, but also for Grammouse who was coming to help out.
Olivia Begonia, indeed, was anxious and tired. Then, in the darkest of the night, Grammouse arrived. It had been a very long journey and she was exhausted. All she wanted to do was put her paws up and relax, but one look at Olivia told her that resting would have to come a bit later. Wonder of wonders, it was time to go to the Mousepital! Suddenly, everyone was running around excitedly getting in each other's way. What would they do next?
Timorous was too nervous to drive. Noone could wake Hobart. Tumblefoot was too young. Driving was the one thing Grammouse was scared of, but she gritted her teeth, put on her pawsneaks and offered to drive.
So off they went, Timorous holding onto Begonia, Begonia holding onto Timorous and Grammouse holding her breath.
Now sometimes, even when we are afraid, we can do things that would ordinarily scare the wits out of us and that is exactly what happened that day. As they sped to the Mousepital, Grammouse kept thinking about what her favorite song said: "You are the wind beneath my wings", and she tried to go like the wind. Before long, they were there.
While Grammouse was parking the mousemobile, Begonia and Timorous went upstairs. Before Grammouse could even sit down and rest her weary paws, a little baby boy mousie was born.
Timor and Begonia were very, very happy. Grammouse was jumping for joy. Dr. Johnson Mouse was proud to have helped deliver the best looking mouse in town.
They decided to name the little one D.A. (which secretly stood for Dear Angel), Dylan Aaron if you like.
They brought D.A. home to the big Oak tree, and everyone gathered to touch him and hug him, and they were all excited that soon they could tell him all of the mouse stories they had to tell, and the little house seemed to be full of much happiness and joy.
