After the events of September 11, 2001 and the Winter Olympics scheduled for Salt Lake City, Utah February 8, 2002, the USA was considering canceling the Olympics for security reasons.  

 

Then the powers to be put together a security plan which involved over 600 police officers from around the USA, with FBI, Secret Service, Border Patrol, Fire Departments, Emergency Medical Services, etc...  The plan was implemented and the games were on as scheduled.

 

I applied for the Utah Olympic Public Safety Command as a member of the Bronson Police Department and was selected to be one of those police officers.  Mark Miller and Gary Chester from Coldwater Police Department were also selected.   

 

My service to this country in this capacity, would not have been possible without the support of the late Chief Richard Stout, the Bronson Police Department, the People of Bronson, Jimmy L. Emory, the Staff at Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater Michigan and my family.  Thank You and God Bless You All!

 

As I watch the commercials for this years pending Winter Olympics and look forward to the games, I am reminded of the opportunity I was given to be a part of this event, I hope you will all join me in praying for the health and security of all of those involved in this years Winter Olympics, along with the health and security of our loved ones around the world.

 

While I was in Utah, I shared my poetic cards 'GO FOR THE GOLD' and traded them for Olympic pins (which are very popular).  As the author, I was asked to also autograph the cards and as one who is going for the gold, I did.

 

Did you ever travel down a road, thinking you would find,

A place where all the streets are gold and no one's keepin' time?

Well I was traveling down a road, where me first was the way

and every selfish turn I took, the signs would always say;

 

Grab the gusto while you can, no place for second best,

Pay your taxes, then you die, just like all the rest.

Right then I saw the hopelessness, of where this road was bound,

and prayed for just another chance, a chance to turn around.

 

Then up ahead a sign that read, if you're the one who prayed.

You're authorized to turn around, a U-Turn can be made.

So through the median I went, as fast as I could go,

Headin' back the other way, with signs I've come to know;

 

The truth, the life, the only way, the saved, the saints, the free,

Signs I'd only heard about, but now directed me.

So if you travel down this road, here's what you will find;

A place where all the streets are gold, and no one's keepin' time.

FREEDOM NEVER DIES

September eleventh two thousand one
The whole world got to see
The towering twins of New York State
Fall so helplessly.

They both were struck, by suicide jets
On a mission to destroy
The spirit of America
And freedoms we enjoy.

Then a third jet struck our Pentagon

BEYOND A CHRISTMAS DAY!

Working on a holiday,
 Is not so very strange,
For public servants everywhere
  And that will never change,

They sacrifice, so we can live,
In peace through out our land.
Christmas day and everyday,
We need their helping hand.

So don't forget to thank the Lord,
When Santa's gone away,
For all the peace these servants bring;
'Beyond a Christmas Day'.
