A story with a lesson, I really like that. Good reading for young people just before Halloween ghost time.
As I recall, the cookie jar was always under the sink. Not only would we consume vast quantities of too hot to eat supersoft cookies right off the pan, we always were able to raid the cookie jar after coming home from school a couple of hours before mandatory supper. And, we never had lost our appetite for supper by eating cookies.
