Johnathon writes in his journal. He hasn't written in a little while: he is recovering from a bad fall from his wheelchair; he is still bruised and relatively sore.

Monday, September 29, 2008, Nashville, TN, 1:27 p.m., D.S.T.~

Dear Journal~

Johnathon here.  Sorry if I haven't written in a while; been nursing some bad bruises and bumps:  fell out of my wheelchair about a week and a half ago, and it really scared me.  I didn't realize just how helpless I've become until this happened; it put a whole new perspective on things.

It was a miracle I wasn't more seriously hurt; however, I had to go to the ER to get checked out.  Had an MRI as well as a CT-scan; everything was in its proper place, no bones broken, but do have some pretty good-sized bruises on my torso, my arms, and my face.  Looks like I went a few rounds with Muhammed Ali (and I was the one used as his punching bag!).  *OW*

Ever since The Fall (as I've come to call it),  I've been pretty depressed.  Just when I think things are going good, or forging ahead, I have another dadburned setback, and it really bugs the snot outta me!!

This is when I hate having a neuromuscular disorder!  I wouldn't wish this on anyone!!

I did good for the first six weeks of the school year:  scored all A's and B's.  Not one C in the lot.  I was so proud of myself; having Sylvan classes several times a week (plus a tutor) has been a Godsend!!  My parents and family were proud of me, too, and to celebrate my good fortune, they took me out to eat.  Chinese.  It was yummy; besides German, Chinese food is my favorite!! :)

I made a small mistake regarding the Fall Festival at church.  The McKameys were supposed to perform, but for some reason they cancelled; in their place they've booked the Kevin Spencer Family.  They are good; I've seen 'em once, and they put on a show full of anointed music and testimony!  (Saw 'em a few years back, at our church, during Easter Week.)

In just a few months, my brother, Erick, who lives in New York City, is coming to spend Thanskgiving with us.  I haven't seen him in a few years; I'm really stoked about it!  I just hope he can handle the fact that I've gotten weaker and have a trache.  I don't relish the thought of him getting upset about it.

I found out about my brother last week, and that's helped my mood.  Then came the stupid fall, and my mood went *pffffffffffffffffft*!!  Down the drain!!

Now I can think about Erick again, and also how good I'm doing in school, also the love of my Saviour: anything to get myself out of this foul blue funk.  God, I hate being depressed; I just hate it!!  Or I could play some of my video games when I get home from school today.

Ginger has been a huge help.  She kisses my face when I'm feeling bad.  All I have to do is look into her gorgeous liquid-brown eyes and her sweet, goofy face, and I melt, every time!  Ain't nothin' better than puppy kisses!! :)  My dog takes really good care of me; I am so blessed to have her as my friend/helper!!

Mama is back from Galveston, Texas; she was there for about a week when Hurricane (Y)Ike hit the Gulf Coast, doing heavy damage in Galveston, Texas City, Houston, and other cities along the Texas/Louisiana coastline.  Amazingly only eight people were killed; it was a miracle more weren't killed by the ferocious hurricane-force winds.  I really missed her when she was gone!

The day mama came back from Texas was one of the happiest days of my life!!

I just pray and hope that there are no more hurricanes threatening the Gulf Coast; I don't want mama to leave us again!!

Well, if I want to continue to score good grades, I'm going to have to go for now.  I'm in English class; I'm supposed to be working on my homework, NOT writing on my lap-top, in my journal!  My teacher is givin' me the evil eye; he means business!  LOL  Bye!

~Love, your pal, Johnathon. :D

P.S.:  About the bug?  Just wanted to "Bug" ya!! LOL Bye!!

Poor Johnathon he will have brighter days ahead, it's like that saying "someone kicked me while I was down". He has enough on his plate without the fall. Thank you for sharing.
