A budding weather forecaster shares his story. He is the older brother to Carston Stryker.

Hi!  How are you?? I hope you are fine; as for me, I'm doing great!

My name's Spinner.  Spinner Regan Patterson.  I am eight years old; I live in Atlanta, Georgia, with my mommy, Wendy, my daddy, Ethan, and my little sister and brother.  My little sister, who's six, is named Maeli Torrence (I call her MaeMae for short), and my brother is Carston Stryker.  He's three, and he's special.  He was born paralyzed.  He can't walk without help; he walks on a walker now, but hopefully one day he'll be able to walk on crutches.

I am a very handsome young boy if I must say so myself.  I have dark brown hair and blue eyes.  I look like my daddy.  My brother looks a lot like me.  Now, our sister doesn't; she's adopted.  Mommy and daddy adopted her from China, so she looks Chinese.  :)

I like to do many things; however, my favorite thing to do in the whole world is watch weather.  If I am not keeping up to date on the latest forecasts on television on the news, I'm on the computer going to places like Noaa.gov, weatherchanel.com, and other weather-related sites.

When it comes to weather, I know a lot.  I can tell you what a supercell is, what an updraft is, what causes hurricanes, know how to identify different cloud formations, and can tell if we are going to get severe weather just by how the air feels or how the sky happens to look on that particular day.

My uncle Twister (he lives in Oklahoma City; he's a storm chaser) was the one who taught me about weather.  He's really good at his job; I've seen him in action, and when it comes to chasing storms, he's all business.  He wants to see what the storm is going to do and keep people safe before the storm even hits.  One day I would love to go on a chase with him (any chase, really!); I think that would be really cool to see storms in their glory, and feel the thrill of the hunt of "that perfect storm".

Twister's real name is Chris, but his weather chasin' buddies call him "Twister".  For good reason.  He's chased at least 30 tornadoes in  his storm chasing career; he's somethin' of a legend 'round Oklahoma City.  In fact, he chased the tornado that hit Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, back on May 3, 1999, the year before I was born; he still talks about it as though it happened only yesterday.

My mama, she thinks I'd do better being a baseball player or an architect; but my dream is to be either a weather meteorologist or a storm chaser, just like my Uncle Twister.

When I'm not "chasin' storms" by way of my computer or watchin' em outside (from the safety of my home; mama won't let me outside when it's storming!), I like to annoy MaeMae, wrestle with Carston, play with my video games (my favorite one is StormChase), write stories or poems (mostly about weather), read (again, mostly weather), watch the weather channels or the forecasts on the news, and play football, baseball, or soccer with my friends.  I am a very busy little boy!

Well, I am going to go now.  I am at school as I write this, and I need to get back to my math before Ms. Hognose (real name's Hogworth, but I call her Hognose behind her back; she has a nose like a piggie!) catches me and gets mad at me.  I will write in here again soon; this is Spinner signging off!  Bye!

~Spinner Regan Patterson, age 8. :D

Now, is it any accident that Spinner has part of Stormspinner's name? He's an interesting young character and I bet he's good for many thrilling stories about his antics related to storms. Good write.
