Exquisite summer night, soft, warm
like a finely woven, floral scented blanket
thrown over the bare shoulders of Earth.
Crickets and tree frog ballads serenade me
through open French doors of my bed chamber.
Rich sounds of night displace twitter of birds.
By the river a bull frog calls loudly to his mate
In rich, deep throated tones he tenderly woos her
It is the kind of night lovers oft disappear into
not to be found again until three the next afternoon!
Sultry Southern day has left me drained of life.
Sweat beads across my brow and snakes like
small rivulets through the valley between breasts.
Cool bath is drawing me to wash away the day
but night is too mysterious to waste a moment.
Full moon hangs low in a black canvas of sky;
golden masterpiece painted by the hand of God.
Light breeze beckons me to merge with darkness.
Quixotic thoughts fly across fields and dirt roads
toward the one who holds my heart within his.
Standing in the open doorway remembering
the last time his hands explored my terrain
and his lips claimed every feminine map dot.
I hear his sensual whisper breathed in my ear
Words, those words of love and lust, memorized.
I feel the tickle of beard and lips on my nape.
His scent fills my senses and claims my desire
I burn for his hands to caress my breasts
his fingertips to tease their awakened buds.
