The dark cloak of night threw itself across the sky as I sat on the rooftop watching the missiles that flew overhead.

Anyway that all seems so distant now -
time was slowly running out for mankind.
In as much as I was one of the lucky ones who had escaped this first assault of the chemical mind gas,

Most of the worlds population had been transformed into mindless zombie , like creatures who were stalked
by the wild beasts that now inhabited most of the cities .
After most of the forests and jungles were destroyed by the unnatural side effect of chemical warfare all the wild beasts had come from their various wastelands in the hunt for prey.
Helpless to defend themselves the zombies were now on the top of the list as fodder for the beasts.
The savage beasts that now overrun the entire planet had become greatly affected by the chemicals and now had assumed new shapes and form with a definite high intelligence.
They walked around like the new rulers of the planet.
The majority of the planet was I ruins and what was left of the worlds Governments had decided to put into action the new Adam 2 theory.
With a small group of well chosen, perfect candidates their mission was to begin again to re-populate and procreate. In various underground shelters which they called Noah's arks,
all of the perfect couples were to be housed for twenty or thirty years as the last ditch attempt was put in motion.
Their solution was to bombard the entire planet with acid bombs and plasma missiles.
Their idea was simple, if they could destroy everything that moved,the wild beasts would be wiped off the face of the planet and then mankind could try and start again.
I had to ask myself did I really want to be part of this plan ?
All I could do now was hope that they would not find me on this rooftop. I was one of the survivors chosen by the Noah Council to be responsible for the re-growth of the species.
Time was running out,
only a short rime was left until the Noah's Arks where all finally all sealed.
Above my head the missiles flew and in the distance I could see the white blinding light as they landed on target.
As my mobile phone rang I knew who it was going to be.
I answered the call,
"So what's happening ?"
The reply was anxious,
" We need you to come immediately I took a deep breath ,
"No "I said. "I've thought about it and I am not coming .
"What do you want from us ? Came the reply.
"Something you cannot give me,
which is my peace of mind ."
"Where are you ?"
But before I could answer the question I was surrounded on the rooftop by three gorillas.
"So then, either you come quietly with us, or we will have to sedate you. So what is it going to be ? "
I was taken away unconscious by three members of the new species and when I awoke I was alone in my bed,
with the alarm bell ringing like big Ben by the side of the bed.
I had hangover from the night before.
My head felt like it wanted to fall off and my body was almost numb.
Finally I was stirred out of my bed by a voice that ran through my head like a freight train ,shrilling to a stop .
"Are you going to stay in bed all day you lazy loafer ?
The kids need their lunches made
and it's nearly time for them to get to school. "
My wife came up the stairs and looked at me with a smile, then she said,
"How did the award presentation night go last night ?
' OK "I replied, then I continued.
" What a nightmare I had last night ,
' Come on and get up before I give you another one "
