Welcome to Hell.
Your lives as you knew them are over. Done. Finito. History. You now belong to the U.S. government; what we say goes. What you say or think doesn't mean diddly-squat.
The next 12 weeks are going to test your every resolve, your very nature. You will find out whether this decision to join the Marines will either make you or break you. If you have the stuff, great; if not, too bad. Nice knowing you.
Don't think you're gonna get it easy, 'cause you're not. We're gonna ride your ass, and we want you to do what we tell you right the first time. If you can't handle it, then you have no business being here. We are gonna weed out the mice from the men (or women); we don't tolerate weakness or cowardice here. This is the Marines; the Marines are built to be tough, the baddest of the bad!
After you complete your required training, and you pass the basic training aspect of the Marines, you will be going to parts unknown. Some will be going to places you listed on your dream sheets; others, it's anyone's guess. You go where we send ya. No second chances. It is gonna be a very hard, arduous journey, and only a select few ever truly make it. Most will get by just by the skin of their teeth; others will not be able to cut the mustard, and those are the ones we will get after.
We want Marine men and women, not a bunch of goddamn wimps or wimpettes! We don't have room for cowardly behavior here; we are here to mold you into the best men and women that you can be. Be prepared to work hard and long, and be prepared to things like obstacle courses, strict disciplinary action if you screw up, unannounced military inspections per our specifications, and many hours on foot. You will not get much rest here, so be prepared to get used to being up at any given hour.
Also be prepared for sights and smells that are unlike anything you may have ever experienced. What you think you know about war or military life couldn't be further from the truth. Military life is not something you see in a Hollywood picture show or on television: it is anything but glamorous. And war: you'd best be prepared to handle sneak attacks, bullets or bombs whizzing by your head as you try to protect your fellow bunkmates or soldiers, or protect what is rightfully ours.
The enemy is gonna use all their sneaky, dirty tactics, and another thing you're gonna learn here is how to outsmart them. You gotta be a fox, and you gotta act like a fox. Sneaky. Sly. Always on high alert. Because if you ain't, you might as well kiss your asses goodbye.
It's gonna make us look bad if one of y'all are injured or worse. We need all the fighting power we can use; please do what is required and don't fuck up.
So, on that note, let me say I hope you enjoy your stay here in Hell. And welcome to the United States Marine Corps. The few. The proud. The bravest of the brave!! Semper fi!
