Someone's fighting can really affect a person...Trying to drown out the loud voices with the roar of the blender...

ROAR OF THE BLENDER
(July 11, 2013)

I turned on the blender trying to drown out the roar of the voices that vibrated upstairs but no matter how long I held the power button the voices were as loud as the music at a night club. I heard every negative word that escaped from their lips. Though they held no connection to me I felt them slice through my skin, leaving behind scars that would never heal. The tears that began to fall from my eyes only made the scars that much deeper and I wished to be swallowed up by the night, swallowed up by the roar of the blender.

I wrote this piece for my writing class exercise. I had only five minutes to write the piece based on a sound from a list of sounds that resonated with me. I chose roar. Please let me know your thoughts. This piece has not been edited.

It is true that noises (sounds) as do smells and sights etc. can awaken deep emotions within us. Nicely done, Lena. Love and best wishes,

This is fabulous! The mood of the fight upstairs becomes very real, as does the reaction of the unfortunate witness.

Excellent piece. I think you should use this one for your rewriting, but I will ok you further about that. I love that line about tears making scars deeper, beautiful and so true.
