Dear Friends and Family~

Louie here.  Just writing to let y'all know that I got to work safely and without incident; the biggest challenge for me was getting out of my driveway, which happens to be on a hill!  LOL

I am waiting for morning report, to see where I will be working today.  Lately I've been pulling a lot of ER or MICU duty.  Hopefully I will go somewhere different; I'd like to work somewhere else.  Working at the same place for long stretches of time can cause someone to get stale.  I'd like to do a stint in Pediatrics; I love working with the children and adolescents.

The weather here in Middle Tennessee is cold and snowy.  We had a recent rash of snowstorms and more snow could be in the offing in the next few days.  Wonderful.  I will have to make sure to make a pitstop at the grocery store before I get back home; just hope the added weight doesn't cause me to lose control of my van, especially when getting up my driveway, which is a solid sheet of ice underneath at least 10" of snow! LOL Whee!! Such as life here in Middle Tennessee during the winter; ti's been a long and very cold one!

The family is fine; I just called Bill to let him know that I arrived here at the hospital safely.  He is going to go to work at 10; he is still working at Wal*Mart, pulling security detail.  The kids are at school (the middle and high school kids are, anyway; the elementary school students have a two hour delay due to the weather; they'll be leaving around 8:30/9:00 this morning).  Bill and Therese (my step mother) will see them off.

I am glad that the kids haven't caught the flu (well, Ronee' did, but she's over it; today she plans on going back to work.  She still has a leftover cough, but other than that, she feels so much better).  

I am praying I don't get the flu.  I have been around people who have had it, but so far, no problems.  I haven't had even as much as a sniffle.  I do cough, but it's due to my allergies, so I make sure that I take my allergy medications and keep the air humid, thanks to our trusty ol' humidifier; that can cause me to cough as well (meaning the dry air). I also hope my family doesn't get the flu.  They can't afford to get sick.

I will have to write to members of the adoption community, to let them know that I am thinking of them.  Lately, my letter-writing skills have been horrible at best; it's because I have been so busy with work and my own family.  That's what I get for adopting over 60 kids.  I have gotten what I deserved!  LOL  But I don't regret any of the adoptions, and it's fun having a little baby around the house.  Loretta is a doll and she is whip-smart!  She has managed to wrap her little finger around all our hearts!

Well, the night head nurse has showed up; she is going to give us patient detail/morning report.  I will soon find out where I will be working today.  Hopefully it's in Pediatrics.  I will write in here again soon; 'til later, this is Louisiana Sandusky signing off!  Take care and may God bless!
