LOVE and THE REFLECTION IN THE MIRROR
I see me, but who am I? The experiences of life have shaped my heart, but not my appearances. I see the hurt of yesterday, and the people faces that caused it. Happiness Iremember, keeps me blessed, if not, negativity will devour it with excuses. I am so beautiful; however, I cannot understand the absence of love. The reflection shows the roads I traveled, and not the bumps that brought me tears. I am still a proud individual. However, I must be honest the words of abuse, insult has taken a toll on me. How wrong of people to see the past I conquered, and not the present that reveals my strength and forgiveness. Today, I let it all go. The reflection in the mirror speaks volumes of opportunity, and now I am ready once again to be loved. It may have taken time to discard the makeup of verbal abuse, criticism and questions of why people hurt another to feed the pleasure missing from their own hearts. The reflection reveals lovely eyes that desire to hold the visions of a person's hope for change. The smile I have is saying thank you to those that welcomes my sincere way of enjoying their conversations. I can hold me now, with warmth and preparation for the journey of a new me that feel completely loved and respected. The more I see myself, I regret saying thank you to the people that tried to love me. Before, my reflections reveal an incomplete person, I may have heard “I Love You’s”, but I did not love me the way I am supposed to love me. Therefore, I was unprepared for the acceptance of love from others and appreciate it.
Dreams? My reflection discloses facts of the reality of them. I wake each morning of ideas of what I want to accomplish and destinations I would love to travel. Then I realize the truth is hard, when it is looking at you. I see I wasted so much time on people with dreams, and leisurely glanced at the possibility of my own. The same hurt and
insecurities that scarred my reflection, handicapped my visions of
things I could make reality. It took time and patience to educate myself,
that people smile what they dream to become, but live the ugliness of
their disappointments. I am dressed now; I am beholden love in the
mirror. My outfit says, ‘still working and still dreaming';’, however, my
attitude says what’s in front of me is too positive to carry the load of
what people think I should be that is behind me.
