The story of a two blind friends who were used to begging for money and food at the market place. Begging was what they did every moning and if a day passed without their begging exercise, feeding would be a thing of dream. They were of opposite sex and elderly. Perhaps they were blind from birth. They stayed together always untill one day, the blind man could no longer control his sexual urge as he advanced sexually on the blind woman friend regardless of the market people all around. The woman sensed what the friend needed at that very instance. But she would not give-in considering the shame involved.
Although she was interested but was not the right time. At least there was noise everywhere Which meant that it was yet during the day. She laid bare her mind to her blind lover by telling her she wanted it but people were still around. That he should wait untill voices were not heard which will tell that it was already night. The blind man never cared. He said 'let them look. What about them? They do more than this. They cheat on, steal from and kill one another' There was bitterness in his voice. He was really speaking from his heart. He continued, 'Dear you want to tell me that you do not hear the different atrocities men commits? do fornication even in the day time. What different can be said of my urge? We should not be for we can not see them. That we are blind does not mean we should not have a taste of this delicious meal. Let them laugh at us if they have no conscience' The blind woman yet patient advised him to wait untill there was sign that nobody was around. She told him that she was not ashamed as they never knew each other earlier than their meeting at the market place. While their discussion was going on, people seeing how the blind man held the mate, gathered around them and listened with keen interest but pity to what they were saying. One of the on lookers never found the scene interesting. He was too quick to pass judgement on the eager-to quench-sexual thirst of the 'duo' blind lovers. He called them idiots. He asked, 'are you not aware that here is a market place and you want to have sex? He was so angry that he picked up a stick and hit the man on the fore-head. It was unexpected.
The blind man cried in bitter pain. Although he expected abusive words but not such treatment. Some people laughed at the crying blind man. They were indifferent to his cry while the others expressed their contra-view on the situation, telling the man that it was wrong of him to hit the blind man. As the man cried, his blind woman friend wept in bitterness and at the Same time waited for what punishment that was meant for her. But the man that hit the blind, never listened to what some fraction of individuals were saying against the seeming wrong action of his. He went further to take the blind woman to other side thereby causing separation between the two blind lovers.
This is a case of morality and reality. What view do you hold?.......the crowd or the two blind lovers?
Perhaps a good premise for a story, but I think it could've been written better. I would suggest that you have a good editor work with you to improve it or come back to the story after you have written other things and revise it.
I will not comment on the moral question except that, as a writer, you could have handled it with much more compassion.
