Darcy Morgan was born as an unwanted child. She has to make her way in the world with no family behind her and learn about life as she goes along. This is her story.

Darcy Morgan in short segments of poetry and prose

Part 41

Finally, as the church bell sounded a single, echoing chime, the two linked arms and made their way back up the beach. When they arrived back at the Queens, Kara collected her things and they made their way to the town centre. Kara went left to go back to her flat, and Darcy went right towards the café.

Awe and wonder fill the mind

How can such a mood be real?

Never in her varied life

Had fledgling felt such huge appeal

While certain routes, her thoughts inclined

Those green eyes hovered in her mind

The two quickly became inseparable and spent most of their leisure time either at Kara’s studio apartment or at the café. The longer warm nights often found them walking the beach or squatted on the sand chattering animatedly, so much did they have to talk about.

Surrounding world does not exist

When soul mates turn attention thus

Minds just gel and hearts entwine

While other aspects are a plus

Such feelings, though a tad taboo

Afford these girls a new debut

Over the next four months, most evenings and weekends were spent together. Kara would help Darcy with the market stall and Darcy would pitch in at the Queens. Then they would either, cook supper at Kara’s and spend the evening there, or go to the café and raid Bruno’s fridge. If Kara’s landlord minded, he didn’t say so, and Bruno and Roselyn were happy to have another cheery face at the breakfast table.

Two by two and side by side

Inseparable hearts beat fine tattoo

Each joy and pleasure jointly owned

In everything they sought to do

Long hot summer days and nights

With only heart’s desire in sights

Darcy had never known such a love. Her fledgling experience could never have prepared her for anything such as this. Each morning she would wake first and sit quietly, watching Kara sleep, until finally Kara opened her eyes and smiled. Then they would share breakfast and plan the day ahead.

Kara’s evenings off were magical and romantic. Picnics on the beach, watching the sun go down, staying way after dark curled together on a blanket, or supper on the sofa, listening to music. Sometimes soft and sweet, other times filled with raunchy rock, while the two girls danced the night away.

I agree with Jerry about your writing and your use of poetry so beautifully to enhance the story. I do find this twist rather interesting. It seems that Darcy is quite open to relationships that either help or hurt her, depending upon where she is at in life.

As I read I'm trying to think back from where she came in the early part of the story. But my memory fails me.

You, Ruan are a writer, no getting around it. The way you tell the storey with poetry and prose interchainable is a sure fire way to grip the reader and make him/her stay with it. You're on a roll.
