Darcy Morgan; in short segments of poetry and prose.

Some years later;

Coffee in hand, Darcy watched the sun bring a glow to all that it touched as it rose over the trees, and she marvelled at the wonders of nature. It saddened her that so many couldn't see what truly mattered anymore.

Conflicting thoughts and faded dreams
bring consternation into light
Out there; the brightly cheerful breeze
belies the harsh internal fight
The fledgling; caged in cold distain,
by he who sought to crush and drain.

Sighing heavily, Darcy turned back into the house. She had yet another mountain of paperwork to prepare for the court and, without her own legal eagle, it was going to be arduous.
This would once again rob her of yet another potentially beautiful summer.

A decade; passed in bitter feud,
While child-like, Bull betrayed his rage
How dare she turn away from 'him'!
How dare she seek to turn 'his' page!
When petulently stamping foot,
his viscious mind controlled his boot

Blackened soul in fevered state,
 does brutally demand its rights.
No 'human' soul would drive despair
to battle at such crazy heights.
Bull wants it all and wants it fast...
Demands control, as in the past.

Legal eagles hover low,
lured by promise from the beast
Beaks agape and talons taut,
intent on easy 'fledgling feast'
Softest birdsong lost in fear,
Cage is silent, end draws near.

Wise owl calls out for a pause
A subtle shift in bully's odds
Fledgling fights with faltering song
Cracks appear in gilded rods.
Cloven hoofs, beset with wrath,
kick up the dust, distort the path.

Eagles scream with discontent
Reject the fledgling's song as faux
Owl sets bull a simple task
The beast declines to follow through;
Instead, supplies the tarnished cage
with extra bars and locks, in rage.

Darcy impatiently brushed away the haunting memories and settled reluctantly to her next task; she would much rather be outside painting or gardening , than stuck month after month, with her nose to the internet grindstone, searching for answers and guidance.
It's been a long haul.  Such luxuries as flying free and absorbing all of natures offerings - mere echoes from another life.

-------------------------------------
I'm not sure if this works or not.
The plan is to rekindle the middle part to Darcy's story when the FOG of this part has finally cleared.

((FOG = Fear, Obligation, Guilt = the key tools used by narcissistic abusers))

Your poetry is better than ever. You have a poetic way of pulling your storyline into your poems so beautifully and artistically that it is like reading a fine painting of some bygone era.

But I'm having trouble linking the Darcy I read about with her neat little shop down by the seaside with what you are writing now. Is this something that came back from before, when she fled to the sea in the first place? I believe it may be. But I would have to go back to the first chapter and read again because I have mostly forgotten that part, it's been so long. Forgive me.

Strangely, I would like you to fill in something that happened between that shop and what you call "the middle part" so that there is a better translation for forgetful readers like me.
