What began as a hobby for two lovers quickly blossomed into a forum of prose and ideas, with poets from around the globe gathering together to write, share, critique, and commune.
This book contains the fruits of some forty-six poets. Each poet brings a unique voice. From all walks of life, faiths, and ages they have come. Each one's private poetic point of view is a shadow of the overall collage harvested here. May they amaze each reader, as the poems here open the door to the collective spirit inherent in us all.

"Shadow Poetry is a scheme to bring these hidden poets out into the light of day. It began as a website, hosted by Marie and James Summers, and has grown into something I would call a collective and they call a guild, a loose association, anyway, of writers dedicated to helping one another out and developing their skills together.
OUT OF THE SHADOWS is the guild's first print anthology. It is handsomely produced, with attractive artwork. Each poet is given generous space and is represented by around 10-15 poems.
Quality varies. Some of the work here is awkward. Almost all of it is old-fashioned. Favourite topics are love and spirituality. Taken as a whole the anthology affords an interesting cross section of the American psyche at the turn of the Millennium. The heavy metal enthusiast sits comfortably beside the born-again Christian, the Pagan and the New Ager. Emotional honesty is a prime virtue for them all. My favourite is Masenn Jonsin, because I like what she says and the colloquial, easy way in which she says it.
It is remarkable how much the Shadow Poetry crew have achieved in the 18 months since they came into existence. Future anthologies are planned. Good luck to them, they deserve it."
