Her aim is to try to teach and instruct others in the correct ways of mediumship using her own experiences as a guide. This book is a refreshing outlook on todays mediumship. If you're one like me that has been from pillar to post looking for answers or training upon training and getting nowhere fast I think you will find the answer in this book. You might like the answer and then again you might not , but wouldn't you rather know where you stand instead of being told nonsense all the time and in many cases paying cash out for courses that just don't work? This book is a black and white honest approach which has been a long time coming and with luck will do its job in balancing the playing field and getting rid of all the dead wood amongst this industry. I am not going to go into detail why you should take this book seriously as that is a journey you need to make for yourself but I would say this is a hidden treasure which is yet to be fully recognised. A lovely read and a book best purchased in paperbook.... why? because you will keeping going back to it all the time and it's a keeper. Michael Thorpe Excerpt INTRODUCTION In these pages, you will find the first chapter from each of my first two books (two chapters from the second book), together with certain blog posts from one of my sites called, A Sceptical Medium – Lorraine and a special message from those in the world of spirit. The chapters are just a taster to show what my books are like. Whilst the first of the posts will explain how I am a medium and yet still remain sceptical. Now aged 55 I am a natural born healer and medium that possesses many different ways of working within this field. I am not a spiritualist - I am a Catholic. On hearing anyone is a medium or healer, it is immediately assumed by the majority of people that the person concerned is a spiritualist - most natural mediums I know aren’t. I know many spiritualists and the majority are good, kind and caring people who do good works. Sadly, quite a few who believe themselves to be mediums and healers aren’t though and some of my friends are included in that number. I believe in God and that He gives these gifts to certain people so they can help others. You may call Him/it by any other name, but to me, that is God. I realise not everyone believes in Him, but there is someone or something far greater than any of us can hope to aspire to or understand about whilst of this world. It is also my belief these gifts cannot be taught. A Guide’s Guide To Mediumship and Healing is my first book and although written by me, it is filled with words and teachings as given from the world of spirit. They teach us about the ways of the world of spirit and tell how the standards of mediumship and healing in today’s world are being compromised due to today’s way of teaching. They wish to see those standards raised, which is why they gave me the words to share with you all. On reading, A Guide’s Guide, you might find the way it is worded rather strange. This is because it is words from my spirit helpers and not from me. My second book is, My Life – My Mediumship. That is the story of the battle I had for years within myself when I realised I was different from other people. It tells of my struggles to accept what I believe to go against the teachings of my church, the many experiences I had when the spirit world were trying to get my attention to work with them and how and why I eventually came to accept it all. My literary agents have sent my first book to publishing houses and we are waiting to hear if anyone will offer a book deal to me. There are more books to follow, so I am told, with in depth teachings of the various ways of working with those in spirit. They have explained and given exercises within the first book, but say there is more to follow on each category. I have no doubt these books will be published at some time as they wouldn’t have given those words to me if they hadn’t meant them to be read. Although it is said not all can be mediums, everyone can be psychic and develop that ability. They give guidance how this can be done in early chapters. Although much of the rest of the book is to help natural mediums and healers to develop, it is also for all to read as it teaches how to recognise who may be frauds and charlatans. When some of it was placed on a writing site for authors, it attracted a lot of attention from sceptics who said they enjoyed the practicality and no nonsense approach. Intelligent and challenging approach to a fascinating subject
I approached this with an open mind, aware of the divergent opinions raised in any discussion of the supernatural in its various guises. There is no hint of exploitation here, no expounding of spurious evidence, just well reasoned, and well written, argument by a writer whose every sentence conveys authenticity. I was impressed by the author's sincerity and knowledge. A sceptical Medium does exactly what the title suggests. It is a well balanced approach to a complicated subject and I commend it heartily to anyone with even a passing interest in the subject.

Honest and truthful and wise
I have had the pleasure of reading several of Lorraines works. They are informative honest and most importantly it is clear that her gifts are completely honest, and there are lessons shared. She doesn't preach or claim to know more than others but only shares her gifts and messages. A wonderful read and she brings those who know, affirmation and those who are unsure clarity. We all question our gifts or labels as it is only natural and healthy to get confirmation from the source of our messages. I highly recommend any of her works

Sceptical... Decisive... Opinionated and Kind
Lorraine is one of those women who never stops. Never. She's either writing, talking about writing, encouraging others to write or encouraging others to encourage each other. That kind of attitude shines in her book, "A Sceptical Medium."

She explains to us, in very plain language, what it is like to be in your hotel room and having an insistent visitor who also happens to be dead. She also explains the difference between being a medium because it is a gift given to you, a natural medium -- and being one who attempts to "learn" the gift. She warns us, in no uncertain terms, that there are people out there perfectly willing to take advantage of something she sees as her ability to help other human beings. She also warns that dabbling in things that you do not understand or unable to understand can let loose mischief where only healing should have occurred.

This is a good book if you want to find out what it's like to be a medium. It's from a teacher who is in the midst of her journey and looking both inward and outward to try and explain "why" this occurred in her living. My five stars are for that intent and the price that it cost her to publicize her knowledge.
