Do you have something about yourself, that you wish you could change? Earnest did. Earnest hated his wide feet. They weren't just a little wide, they were extra wide. Earnest felt like it was summer if you never got to wear a pair of sandals. He couldn't wiggle his toes in his sneakers, there was barely enough room. Why did he have to be so different, and have such weird feet? His dreams of wearing sandals seemed to be that only a dream. Then one day, he met Stanley.

"Son, I just don't want you to be disappointed again," Earnest's mama said calmly. Earnest turned his head away. "Earnest, I know what it feels like to be different, but I had to learn to accept it," his mother said, as she put her arm around his slumped shoulders. She pointed down at her feet, which were extra wide too.
