Sunday Smile
I liberally apply mascara,
then paste on my Sunday smile.
I wear it like a pair of socks
to cover dirty toes.
My smile is received well
by other painted smiles
we are all happy –
frowns don’t get to heaven
If anyone knew
I didn’t sleep again last night,
my baby’s cries frustrate me,
or that I don’t wnt to be friends
with everyone,
they might tell me to pray more
or read my bible more
Maybe they’d understand
because they’re the same
But this is not the time or place.
Here we are beaming examples
of bliss.
I wore my Sunday smile
to church this morning;
now I need a bath.
