A Must Read!
Just Speaking My Mind - by Avery Washington. A MUST READ - correction: A MUST HAVE. I could not put the book down, I read the whole book on the spot and often refer back to the special poems that touched my heart personally. Avery Washington "Spoke His Mind" and many of us feel the same way. Deep issues from family, employment, the U.S., etc..., I was hooked and understood the passion instantly. I bought several copies and share them with my class/ students. It was amazing how many of my students had expereince the same expereiences, but was afraid to talk about them. Rich, Full and Warmly Wrapped in Comfort!
Just Speaking My Mind is rich, full and warmly wrapped in comfort. It reminds me of a favorite blanket that you bundle up in and just relished the feeling. This book of feel good poetry that even makes one think and wonder, is an inspiring read on many levels. It is chalked full of tributes to women that can make the hardest of hearts start to melt from "Strong Woman" to "Love Is" then back to "Let Me In" then even further back to "Take It Slow"....wooo weee. Then one can be taken on a journey with "The Reflection in the Mirror"....indeed. Kudos to Mr. Avery Washington for a collection of poems that whet the palate and entice the heart.
A New Appreciation of Poetry!
I've never been an avid reader of poetry. After reading excerpts from Avery Washington's book, I HAD to order it because of its thought-provoking content. Washington writes very passionately about issues that are dear to my heart and mirror my own philosophies. One will reflect on this book's substance long after its laid to rest. It is guaranteed to heighten social consciousness and provide insight on various issues. Thanks to Avery Washington, I have a new appreciation for poetry!
