Covers 25 years of my living in Turkey

The book covers how I first went to work in Turkey in 1988, and how my late wife and I choose to move from England to Turkey. During the next 25 years our life was a mixture of joy, happiness, dissapointment, pleasure and grief. It ends with my starting a new and incredible happy life in a completely different part of the country. I hope readers will take heed of how I suffered major looses and will take note of advice I offer to prevent this sort of thing appening to them.

Excerpt

On mentioning to a work colleague about our wanting to buy some land to build on, he arranged for us to meet Ahmed. He was a Turkish friend of his, who was also looking to buy a piece of land to build on. At our later meeting him, we were pleased at finding he spoke good English. Not only that, he told us he and his two brothers had their own construction company. They were Ahmed said, known in the area for doing high quality work. Another good thing, his eldest brother was an architect. He could draw up our house plans and handle all issues related to having them approved by the Belidiye (council). In view of our being foreigners and him Turkish, this would save us a lot of hassle and expense.
A few weeks after our initial meeting, Ahmed called me at work one day. He sounded quite excited as he said,
“Colin, I have found a piece of land I want you to see before anyone else does.” As this sounded good, with it being lunchtime, I said I could look at it now.
After driving to the site and picking me up, we then drove to Kemer to find Jen. As luck would have it, we soon found her sitting with a friend. On informing her about the land Ahmed had found, she like me was anxious to see if it was suitable or not. As we set off, we both excited at the prospect of seeing what Ahmed had told us was a perfect spot to build a house on. After driving out of Kemer towards the nearby mountains, we crossed a bridge over a dried up river bed and into what Ahmed informed us was the village of Kuzdere. Then, after driving down and along a series of narrow, rough surfaced lanes, we turned off and up a track. I was just about to ask Ahmed where we were going, when he stopped the car.
“Well,” he said, with a big smile on his face, “Here we are.”
On getting out of the car, we found a narrow stream blocking our way.
“Come on,” Ahmed said, “It is just a bit further on.” After jumping across the stream, we followed Ahmed a short distance before coming to a large open field with a number of orange trees growing in it.
“Ahmed looked a bit apprehensive as he turned and inquired,
“Well, here it is, what do you think?” Although I thought it ideal, as Jen was a town girl, I did not think she would be interested. However, I was both amazed and delighted when she exclaimed with a beaming smile on her face,
“Oh! I love it. This is just what I wanted.” That was it; we agreed there and then to buy the land with Ahmed.
