Meg felt like a teenager in disgrace. She leaned over to get the recalcitrant napkin. In doing so she knocked a lemon square resting on a lace doily in front of her off the table. The lemon square landed on her shoes. "Darling,"drawled the incredible Patrice, you have ruined your perfectly dreadful shoes. Pick up your napkin and here, take another lemon square. Use you fork Meg dear," she said as Meg reached for the elusive sweet, "there is a reason why there is a dessert fork right in front of you."
