Excerpt
Glancing at him while pulling on a pair of red short-heeled boots, Katherine said, “No.”
Kal stopped tying his laces. “Why not?”
“Because I don’t have the energy to deal with…all of this right now.” She yanked a blue jacket off a coat tree then slipped her arms in. Her jerky movements showed her nerves.
As she passed by, Kal stopped her with a gentle hold on her arm. “What if it’s the change?”
She bit her bottom lip and worry clouded her eyes for a moment. “If—and that’s a big if—it’s the change, I’ll call. But I know it’s not. He has the flu. Half Ike’s class is sick with it.”
He didn’t miss the emphasis she placed on the word flu. Apparently she was still trying to convince herself Ike wasn’t part vampire.
She pulled free and stepped out on the porch with Kal right behind. After locking the door, she jogged down the stairs and crunched across the gravel driveway to her car.
Damnit. Even though he wasn’t positive the change was upon Ike, he had to make sure Katherine was aware of the signs.
He trailed after her. “Wait.” She didn’t stop. “Katherine, please wait a sec.”
Yanking her car door open, she faced him. “I have to go.” She slumped behind the wheel and inserted the key into the ignition.
Kal held the door and leaned in. “Do you have a piece of paper and a pen?”
“What?” She stared at him as if he’d asked her for a million dollars.
“I want to leave you my cell number.”
“Um…hold on.” She unzipped her purse and fished around. Finally she handed him a grocery store receipt and a broken red pencil crayon with teeth marks all around it.
“There are a few signs I need you to be aware of. One is concentrated pain in his upper jaw—especially above his eye-teeth. Also, his skin will feel feverish and he’ll suffer from intense stomach cramps.” He scribbled his cell number and handed the paper back. “If anything happens, don’t hesitate to call.”

Loveing this series
In the first book we got to see a little of Kal and what we seen made us think he was a man that picked woman and left them after that. It seems that he had no care in the world. In this book we get more into his past and realize that he was just showing a front. To be a vampire in love with a human and have that change her life is something he didn't want to do. He did it to protect her.
Katherine Colby loved Kal but he used her and left her in the middle of the night. What he didn't know is that he left her with something to remember him by. A son named Ike. Katherine has been taking care of Ike for the past ten years and never thinks about trying to find Kal and telling him. Kal finds out that he has a son accidentally and when he does it happens at a good time.
Reading this second book got me more into this series. I could see myself reading these books over and over again. I never thought that I would have another vampire book that I would love. I'm glad to say that I was wrong. This author sure knows what she is doing and has me hooked even more. I hope that there are more books in this series. I know that there are still some questions that need to be answered.
I have to say that Ike would be my favorite character in this book. He made me laugh and I could feel his pain when he was going through his changes. If I had a son like Ike it would make my day. I know I would never be bored.

I started reading this book the day after I finished Love's Prophecy, the first book in the series. I really liked Love's Prophecy, and if I'm being honest, I didn't expect to like Kal's story as well. To me, he came across sounding like a teenager in Love's Prophecy. I wasn't sure I could buy into a vampire warrior/love story with a 100+ year old vampire sounding like a kid. Well, I can't begin to tell you how wrong I was. I liked this story even more than the first. It was close to 5 stars for me, but I'm holding out to see if the next story is even better...and it seriously has the potential to be.
This story picks up where Love's Prophecy ended. Just like the first story, this one jumps in and takes off. There's action, suspense, and chemistry. I enjoyed the story of Kal and Katherine more than Mel and Breeana, and I think it may have been because they had more to bind them together than Mel and Breeana. There was a history already there, so it was less instant love. I bought Kal's reason for leaving Katherine, and really liked that Katherine understood it as well, even if she did have to work to forgive him and move on. I liked that Kal wasn't a fool the second time around. He knew what he lost the first time and was determined not to make the same mistake. I have more to say, but don't want to give anything away, so I'll stop here.
Again, like the first book, this one flows well and at a good pace. It keeps your attention with a good bit of action, suspense and great characters. My only regret in reading these is that the entire series isn't out. I'm too impatient!! I highly recommend this series!
Fresh, unique, original
The moment I heard Brenda Dyer's second book in the Prophecy series was available to buy on Smashwords (it wasn't available on Amazon yet), I couldn't click through fast enough. Her first book, Love's Prophecy, is an outstanding, heartwarming love story that I read no less than three times and then bought the paperback. This series is unlike any vampire story I've ever read before. Filled with intrigue, humor, heat, and thrills, she's written another book to be read over and over.
Prophecy's Child grabbed me on the first page and didn't let go. It's a romance story that'll keep you up late because you can't put it down. Many characters from her first book make an appearance and heighten the unfolding drama. Her new characters will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Fantastic writing that put me right there in the book. Again, Ms. Dyer didn't disappoint with her creative mind and originality.
