Life has thrown 8-year-old Prince more challenges than most will experience in a lifetime. After discovering his dad in bed with another woman—or not, Prince found himself being raised in a single parent household by his ailing mother.
When he was unable to bear watching his mother go through anymore suffering due to her disease, Prince was faced with making one of the most difficult decisions in his young life.
After his mother’s death, Prince finds himself uprooted from his home and placed in the foster care system as his well-to-do uncle and gay father fought a viscous custody battle.
By the time he was adopted by his uncle, he discovers that life on the other side of the tracks is not all what it is cracked up to be. He was considered an outcast by his peers. In the "white" school, he was ignored because of his race. And after transferring back to a public school in his old neighborhood, he was taunted and ridiculed for being too "white-acting." He soon learns that even if you were born in the projects, you weren’t really considered "black" unless you experienced the struggles.
