Longer romance story
Being the supervisor at her apartment building has its perks. Lisa lives rent-free and gets to help out the other residents. Her talents come in handy when she meets David, who is all thumbs, and who, she thinks, is dating her best friend, Jenny, which would have been great if Lisa didn’t have a crush on him. Will Lisa have to stop thinking of David to keep Jenny’s friendship?
Excerpt
“How did you get to be so good with repairs?” Jenny asked.
“Watching three older brothers,” Lisa replied laughing.
“Want to come out for dinner with David and me tonight if I can get my brother to come along too?”
“Fixing me up with a date, aren’t you? Sweet of you,” Lisa said smiling. “But I have to make a few more wreaths to fill an order for Monday. Thank goodness it’s Saturday today, I have two loads of laundry waiting for me.”
“If you change your mind before noon, let me know,” Jenny said.
After Jenny left, Lisa finished Monday’s wreaths. She glanced at the colorful creations made of straw, interwoven with frothy lace and velvet. She liked what she did. And staying here would help her pay off the small business loan she’d borrowed. After her divorce, work was everything. On Sunday morning, she was up early. She didn’t get around to the laundry yesterday, so she had that to do, and pick up around the apartment. The phone rang. Lisa put down her coffee cup and reached for it. “Hello?”
“This is David Foley from 15 B. You wouldn’t have a pair of pliers, would you? I’m putting up mini blinds and the nail is crooked.”
