Wes moved his hand from her waist to her shoulder and his free hand to her other shoulder. “I suppose we should go back inside now.” He made no effort to move.
“Uh-huh.” She couldn’t think of anything else to say. The only thing her brain seemed to be able to focus on the fact Wes was about to kiss her. She wanted him to, but remembered her resolve not to get involved with men ever again. Then again, one little kiss didn’t necessarily lead to a lifetime commitment. Right? And he did have the cutest eyes.
She lowered her head, ready for— “Uncle Wes! Todd called me stupid!”
Wes blew out a breath. “That boy needs to work on his timing,” he said before getting to his feet, pulling her up with him in one swift movement.
