The Place to Start Learning Drupal
I have been looking at Drupal for the past few years and I have had one major problem learning Drupal and that is every book that I have read told you to download Drupal and start using it basically. This is the wrong approach and Cindy McCourt doesn't start out learning Drupal by downloading Drupal and start using it. This is very good start.
Once you start using Drupal by downloading Drupal and start adding things like modules, then you lose all concept of how Drupal works. What happens is that modules end up all over Drupal such as in the Structure, Configuration, or not show up at all and all of this will totally confuse you if you are new to Drupal.
Drupal: The Guide to Planning and Building Websites deals with designing your website to work with Drupal and not the fundamental of Drupal and this is where you should start when learning Drupal. This will save you many hours of frustration and disappointed.
I cannot express to you enough if you are starting out learning Drupal this is the very first place to start. The second part of learning Drupal is to download Drupal and just study Drupal "Out Of The Box" before you start adding anything at all to Drupal. This too will save you hours of frustration.
Mike Annelo from Drupal Easy has a Podcast 93 with Cindy McCourt about this book which is very good. I am the guy that Mike says forgot the name of the book which is true. I had not finished the book the book when I told Mike about the book. Just in case you don't know Mike Annelo, he is pretty popular in the Drupal arena in Florida.
