Looks Great Naked, by Sandi Hutcheson was a FABULOUS read. I did not put it down! This author is witty and takes a sensitive subject, such as addiction and finds the real life, real remedy of humor as a saving grace. It is the story of a woman raised in a very religious household and her journey to marriage, children and the overall “ sentence” of living with an addictive husband.
It is at times painful, but so skillfully written with passion and wit that the barren truth of the problem is up front, raw and real. This has become one of my favorite books. Not only is the title catchy and perfectly chosen (and that title referenced and carried throughout the book) but the story of this woman is one I think everyone can identify with, both as a wife and a mother and living with an addict in addition to dealing with the codependency. It is written so well I felt I knew this family; they became my personal friends…I fell completely into the story and found myself wanting to meet the author for a cup of coffee to learn more!
Even though this book is about addiction it is far from a downer read. It is anything but. It is lively and loving and encouraging in addition to being a quick and extremely entertaining read. I think Sandi Hutcheson is a great writer and wish her much continued success.
