Donn Ziebell’s latest book is a thoughtful and thought-provoking examination of the issues surrounding the carrying of concealed guns by US citizens. He has approached the subject with an analytical, open and curious mind. The 100-page volume clearly recounts what he learned through exhaustive research, firsthand experience, and even some pretty serious eavesdropping, in order to identify and evaluate the facts, fallacies and falsehoods of this controversial subject. Written in a easily assimilated style, reading CONCEAL CARRY; PAUSE is a surprisingly enjoyable experience and one every American should make the effort to do, so they can learn about the moral, societal and personal challenges and responsibilities for those who choose to conceal carry.

This book, Conceal Carry: Pause, is a very informative analysis of what it is like to go through the process of training and actually becoming licensed for concealed carry. It is interesting, easy to read, and at the same time presents a huge amount of relevant information for the reader. Similar to the author, I grew up with guns for hunting and occasional use for animal control around the farm. My idea of concealed carry was it would take away my freedom to carry a gun without government interference, but would give some macho guy license to intimidate and/or lead to crime. I was wrong. Concealed carry can be a good thing. This book examines the many, many aspects and serious issues of owning and using a gun for self-defense. It certainly will help you decide if concealed carry is for you. Everyone, gun owner or not, should read this book to become informed about concealed carry; what it is, and what it is not.

This book should be basic reading for anyone interested in concealed carry. That is it should be read before making a commitment. Discernment and responsibility are often left out of the decision process. Main-stream media and Hollywood have somehow skewed reality. A 100 page book written with intimate expressions of “now that I can - should I?” Dr. Ziebell shares his own analysis of concealed carry reasoning, and considerations. During this journey he has also documented the mental uncertainties of “if this happens- then what?” and “If I defend myself, am I willing to have a lifetime of legal problems?”
