Recommended to fans of political thrillers
The author either has direct knowledge or has researched the US political system. Had the UK media not been so closely reporting on the Trump administration I may have been lost by some of the political shenanigans. Luckily I now know all about executive orders and supreme court appointments so instead I found it a very topical read, in many ways frightingly plausible.
The story is set a few years in the future and is based around the US government's control of domestic threats and establishing financial stability. Chandler, a political journalists upsets his girl friend by agreeing to make a documentary about this and the rise of seperatist groups within the US. What he uncovers is quite chilling. Meanwhile the government which has frozen elections "to protect the country" is under attack. Serious cyber attacks are carried out on the water supply, transport system and the financial markets. Nothing is off limits, including changing the medical history of a government minister, which leads to his death.
An enjoyable if slightly unnerving read!
