“Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! I first want to say thank you and (big hugs). Your book may have saved my life. I’m 45 years old and have been struggling with unanswered symptoms for at least 5 years and all conventional doctors want to do is wash me away with medication. You have saved some of the best years of my life with your information. Thank you so much.” Lisa
It starts with the toxic food we are eating. but It is also about the toxic cosmetics, over the counter drugs, kitchenware and storage, cleaning supplies, toxic drinking water and even the toxins of the mind, stress, anxiety, lack of sleep, toxic relationships and lack of movement that impact our biomes and create “dis ease.” All of this is covered in my book with proactive suggestions for you to lower your toxic impact. All these things create inflammation, and therefore create disease.
It took me 5 years, but it was worth it. It’s all about toxic load, so each toxin you replace is one step closer to health.
A quick comment about genes. We are born with a certain disposition for disease or for health. That map is in our DNA. However, even with the worst genes, it is now believed that how we live determines whether these genes are turned on or remain turned off. 95% of our genetics is in our microbiome. Cleaning up the toxins, and eating real food are the best things you can do to control your health destiny. Removing the toxins gives your body an opportunity to start to heal again. You will feel the difference. Eating toxin free food of all the colors of the rainbow from a farm as close to you as possible and cooking your own food gives your body the tools its needs to heal. Eliminating the rest of the toxins stops the assault on your body. Start today!

It Feels Good To Feel Good
How I learned to eliminate toxins, reverse inflammation and feel great again
Dedication
This book is dedicated to people with pain and inflammation. It is also dedicated to people who want to raise healthy families and are unaware of all of the toxins in our world. It is dedicated to all of the people struggling with any of the 100+ autoimmune diseases.
How to use this book
There are over 1000 suggestions in this book to help you purge toxins out of your life and your immediate environment. I did these over a 5 year period. It will take you 5 years to do all of this. You can’t do it all at once, and you will be frustrated if you even attempt it.
I suggest you take a yellow highlighter as you read this book, and highlight the things that would be easy for you to do first. Doing all of this will be a process and you will take little steps every day until they are all accomplished. Celebrate each win. Do not beat yourself up if you slip, or think you are removing the toxins too slowly. Every step you take will bring you closer to wellness. Work at a comfortable pace for you.
The Top strategies to use this information
There is a special index in the back of the book just in reference for the How To Dos of this list. There is also a full index.
1. Read the book and get informed
It all starts with information and awareness. I was stunned when I began to discover how many toxins were in my life. Get on email lists for the people recommended in my Section 6, Chapter 2 Amazing people who are leading the way taking on the system. Information changes and is updated regularly. Stay informed.
Support the organizations in Section 6 Chapter 1 Organizations to Follow and Support. Get on their Facebook and email lists. The work these dedicated people are doing, on all of our behalf, is worth following, learning from, and supporting.
2. Get a yellow highlighter pen
As you start to read, highlight the things that would be easy for you to do right away. Once you finish the book, make a list. This is where to start. You can go through the book again later to implement more things.
3. Start with food.
• Before you eat anything, ask yourself “what nutrients are you feeding your body by eating that food.” If there is no food value, don’t eat it. Period. Eat to nourish your body. Stop eating processed food. Stop eating fast food. They contribute absolutely nothing for your body to utilize.
• COOK. It’s the only way you can control what you are eating. If you haven’t been cooking, start simple and easy. It doesn’t have to take more time than eating fast food. It just takes a little planning and having the right ingredients on hand. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT CHANGE IN EATING THAT YOU CAN MAKE IN YOUR LIFE AND THE LIVES OF YOUR FAMILY. Crowd out bad food choices by having great food choices on hand.
• Enjoy sitting around the table at dinner and sharing your day with each other. The joy and love of community is an important step to health.
• Use the Dirty Dozen and Clean 15 charts included from EWG, the Environmental Working Group. Always buy organic if the item is on the Dirty Dozen list. Eventually you will want to buy all organic, but for now start there.
• Familiarize yourself with ingredients that are genetically modified. (GMO) Avoid them. You don’t need these toxins in your body.
• Add more vegetables and fruits to your diet. Eat from all of the colors of the rainbow, each has a gift of nutrients that determine the color.
• If possible, buy local. The closer you are to your vegetable being grown and coming to market, the more prime the nutrients are.
• Get tested for your food sensitivities, and eliminate anything on your list. This is a biggie to eliminating inflammation and pain.
• Adopt a “Do This Not That” strategy. When you read a recipe, see what ingredients you can swap to make a healthier version of it. Be creative. Have fun. This is a get well journey. I find it both fun and rewarding to creatively change an unhealthy recipe, to one that is now both yummy and healthy.
Start thinking about food hacks- If you have always used white wheat flour, try almond flour instead. If you have always used low-fat or non-fat (skim) milk, try whole milk. Try organic dairy. Try raw dairy. Or learn to use alternative milks, coconut milk, almond milk, cashew milk. If the recipe calls for a bad cooking oil, substitute the oil for ghee, or coconut or avocado oil. If it has sugar, cut the quantity by 2/3 and add a little stevia. Use coconut sugar, or maple syrup or raw honey, but only enough to add a little sweetness. (Sugar is sugar is sugar) Avoid fructose, corn syrup and white sugar. At least honey, coconut sugar and maple syrup have some trace minerals that are good for you. Keep swapping until everything you eat and feed your family is a healthier version. Do this over time. Experiment.
• Cut out a major portion of simple carbohydrates from your diet. If its white its processed and not good for you. (White flour, white sugar, white rice.) Drastically reduce the sugar in your diet. It’s as addictive as cocaine, and it is harming all of your body functions. It is triggering inflammation.
• Stop using fake sugar chemicals. The pink, blue and yellow packets should be thrown away. Swap them for Stevia (without additional chemicals) or honey or maple syrup in a limited quantity. Remember, sugar is sugar is sugar, so drastically reduce the amount but stop eating the chemicals.
• Think “Pagen” if you choose to eat meat. ¾ of your plate should be vegetables. Meat becomes a condiment on your diet. It’s much easier to afford pastured organic meat if you eat smaller portions of it. You still get all the benefits.
• Read food labels.
a) If there are things you cannot pronounce, they are chemicals. Don’t buy it.
b) Look at the order of the ingredients. If a sugar is in the top 5, pass.
c) Look at how many grams of sugar are in each portion. 4 grams of sugar = 1 teaspoon
d) Pay attention to portion size. There are often 2 or more portions in a container.
e) Buy GMO free. Look for GMO Verified on the label. You don’t need the pesticides and herbicides in your body.
f) Look for canned goods that are BPA free.
Professional Reviews
Thank You
Hi Cheryl, I first want to say thank you and (big hugs). Your book may have saved my life.
I went to all of my conventional doctors and not one would do anyfood testing. They all wanted to give me medication based on mysymptoms. So I turned to functional doctors as you described in yourbook and I found an amazing one about 45 minutes away. While I have topay out of pocket for the visits my insurance actually paid for the labtesting. All of my "normal" lab testing that a functional doctor woulddo came back well "normal" but the amount of information line by line my functional doctor gave me was amazing.
Moving on to food sensitivity I am blown away. I honestly don't knowwhat I can eat. My card I take to a restaurant will probably be a small list of 3 things I can eat. Lol. From dairy to gluten to eggs to nuts my panel is in the hot zone. No wonder every time I eat I feel bad.Now because of that both my functional and conventional doctor both want me to see a GI doctor and have an endoscopy just to be sure we can seethe whole picture and that's coming next week.
After the results my conventional doctors will sit down with me with the full case AND get this and with a nutritionist to map out a plan for three months starting to work with me. Based on my food panel the nutritionist will be my best friend (I pray). Based on initial results my conventional doctors suspects leaky gut and wants a completely clean diet.
So in summary for now, you rock, for writing your book! Maybe you've saved some of the best years of my life to come. I will keep in touch during and after these three months a D my journey ahead. Without your book I would have never known about any of this. But I knew it had to be food just didn't understand any of it until now (well at least I'm starting).
Happy new year to you!!! And (hugs) (hugs) (hugs). Lisa (won the book in a Goodreads contest)

I love the big takeaways at the beginning of each chapter
Cheryl Meyers, Thank you, Thank you. I thought I was doing well at clean eating but, after reading your book I learned so much more. I appreciate that you never wrote anything that I couldn't understand. I love the "Big Takeaways "at the beginning of every chapter because it helped to zone in on the important topics . What blew me away was the danger in so many cosmetics. I also thank you because your readers reap the benefits of your own health challenges. Your hard work will impact so many lives. Lots of Love and appreciation, Vicki L.
I took notice to your writing and how you took the time to state subject and described thoroughly and gave examples as this helped me to visualize the product. You stated how eliminating certain foods would reduce inflammation and pain. The information about sugar and how I learned a type has chemicals to hurt rather than help. What got my attention to continue reading was the resources for your statements. For an example you spoke about plastics. I took a class and part of the class assignment was to write about how plastics are detrimental to the ocean. You told a different story of how plastics affect people in a certain way. Many topics peeked my interest and I sure would like to have as a reference. I honestly could not stop reading. The time you put into "It Feels Good to Feel Good" will serve as a guide to many who take the time to read.
