She is forced into a life of prostitution and is forced to run away to the city, abandoning her baby son. The path of destiny brought mother and son together in another way unimaginable.

Africa is a tough place for a young woman, even more so for Adjo, a young girl forced into a life of prostitution. When men turn away from her door because of her young son, she is forced to run away to the city, abandoning her baby son, Kwaw.
In a society where families are the central purpose of life, all Adjo wants is a husband to take care of her- and all her husband will want is a baby to continue the family name.
Adjo is fortunate; luck shines upon her and she is swept from the streets into a life of money and a little care. Fate has granted her her wishes, but in the end the path of life brings Adjo and her son together again, and Adjo’s Garden of Eden becomes infected with disease.

Excerpt

Fade In
Scene One
A Suburb of Woarawobeba Ext/Night
In Befa, a suburb of Woarawobeba, it is cool and calm at this time of the day. The inhabitants of the suburb are preparing themselves for their usual nocturnal activities. It is a full moon. The women are sitting in front of their rooms whilst some men go in and out of the rooms. Others are patrolling the area aimlessly. Some people can be seen sitting or standing at remote places within the vicinity either kissing each other or caressing one another. Adjo, an eighteen-year-old girl, sits quietly in front of her room expecting customers, but nobody dares to enter her room. The customers are driven away by the loud cry of a baby in Adjo’s room. She looks very disturb and miserable. The baby continues to cry louder and louder. Adjo gets worried and angrily gets inside.

Fade Out

The beginning credits roll to a cool signature tune. The credits end.

Scene Two
Lorry Station Ext/Day

Adjo arrives at the lorry park with Kwaw on her back and holding a small bag. She boards a vehicle bound for Nyameyedom. The vehicle is almost full. The driver sits behind the steering wheel and drives away. After half an hour drive, the vehicle wades into a lateritic road that meanders through thick foliage of bushes and grasses. An irritable chunky cloud of dusts snowball after the vehicle as it journeys toward its last leg of the trip. Throughout the journey, two women are sitting behind Adjo talking at the top of their voices. This infuriates her.
ADJO: (Worried and getting annoyed, turns back.)

Would you please lower your voices a little?

1ST WOMAN: Eei…Madam, why? Don’t we have the right to enjoy our freedom of speech? In fact, this is our fundamental human right as enshrined in the Constitution of this country. So, leave us alone.

ADJO: Fine! But please do not disturb other members of society.

2ND WOMAN: (Chuckled)

The mouth is made to talk. If you can’t cope with our talking, get down.

ADJO: Nonsense!

1ST WOMAN: Hey! Watch your mouth. If you insult me, you will live to regret it.

ADJO: Who? ……Me……What can you……….?

A man shoves Adjo from behind. She turns to look at the intruder.

THE MAN: Keep quiet! My dear lady, it will not do you any good to fight.

At this time Kwaw, who is resting on his mother’s lap, starts to cry. Adjo offers him her breast and caresses him as well. He stops crying and seems to enjoy the breast milk.

1ST WOMAN: (Casting Insinuations.)

W’awaye…. Wo apre Kalo. Next time…try again.

Adjo quietly looks at the Male intruder and gingerly gazes at the two women.
