Skeletons come out of the closet in the small town of Edenville. Join Tucker, Sylvia, Forty, and Jim as they learn about forgiveness and the sins of the fathers.

Set in a rural, small town, the lives of four friends collide one Easter Sunday. In the aftermath, Sylvia Sumner is forced to examine a lifetime of running away from her past and her childhood issues. Tucker Stewart must face his lifelong obsession with Sylvia. He and his friend-turned-rival, Sylvia's husband and amateur detective, Forty Sumner, must let Sylvia go if they are ever to move on in life. It is Sylvia's lover, the troubled and alcoholic, Jim Hart, who has the hardest choice of all. Forgiveness is the lesson they must learn if they are ever to reach redemption and salvation for themselves. Finally facing the fathers of Edenville, whom they both feared and idolized, it is one of these four who will not survive the test.

Excerpt

Sound has other ways of manifesting itself. Her aunt heard clearly when she saw how men looked at her, noticing the comments they made. Mentioning it at dinner one evening, going on and on how she disapproved of Sylvia's behavior, Aunt Justice openly accused her of encouraging these men. Ruthlessly condemning her niece, Sylvia lowered her head and cried into her napkin. Forty informed her aunt he also heard what people in town were saying. He sat across the dinner table from Sylvia, summoning his courage to save her from herself, he assured her and her aunt. While buttering a roll, he very kindly asked her to marry him, an offer her aunt later advised she had better accept, or else.

Professional Reviews

Fathers of Edenville
"Ardoin's novel examines the dark obsessions that lie beneath the surface of seemingly ordinary people. With unerring psychological insight, the novel moves characters cross the precarious line separating fantasy from reality. The human issues that affect relationships are the foundation for Ardoin's story, she builds mystery and intrigue around the matter of what makes men men, and women women, and how they reconcile their love and sexuality individually, and together." From: Authors Reading

Fathers of Edenville
"The author clearly has a sharp insight into the not so secret tragedies and dramas that infuse small town life as well as the thin veneer of everything being more ok than it is, that exists." From: Carla Sameth, author of One Day on the Gold Line

Fathers of Edenville
"Corrine Ardoin's writing holds an evocative appeal that captures moods, psychological backdrops, and not just events and motivations, but wide-ranging connections between characters. This skill serves her well in Fathers of Edenville because it successfully paints the portrait of a woman who has a lifetime of struggle that stems from her father's estrangement." From Midwest Book Review
