This is a book about growing up with my momma.
Growing up with momma was full of turbulence "drama" and chaos. Through all of the crying yelling and screaming the bond between mother and child was never broken.

Momma was a very elusive person. But she always kept her word. If I could in her down when I asked for
something, she would let me have it. Sometimes I could not pin her down.
My fondest memories of her are her starch ironing my daddy’s fatigues, ironing our clothes for school
while we sat on the floor watching TV and the Kodak moment of her walking daddy to the plane, hand in
hand, as he headed off for Viet Nam.
In a way she was like the mother of the motion picture character Forest Gump. In the movie Forest’s
mom had told him life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get. With us, it
was grits. We never knew what we were going to get. Sometimes they were lumpy, sometimes they
were soupy, and sometimes they were just right. You just never knew.
