The commander watched and listened to her appeals, her prayers, her yells for assistance, his expression one of enjoying the entertainment. Smiling, he ordered her beaten.
"This,my lady," he called, "will teach you who rules the Iceni now."
"Never will you rule my tuath, never while I draw breath."
"Allow me to help you take that last breath." He nodded and the scourge hit her back.
