An evil man named Strautus Brennon, lived early in the 1800’s. He kept slaves of black and white color, torturing and disposing of them without ever having a thought of remorse, but his worst sin was toward his daughter, Ella. She suffered the cruelest of heartbreak from his hands, dealing with the physical and mental anguish he bestowed upon her. Forever a prisoner to the walls in which she dwelled, her soul cries out for freedom, waiting for the one person to come along who can set her free, so she can escape her father’s persecution. Death was only a state of being for Strautus, and even in passing he rules, spewing his foulness to anyone who dares to step in his path.
Tessa had no idea of the history behind her new home, nor that the previous residence were still there, but she became quickly aware of them when they started taking over more than her mind...
“Come on,” he said back, moving his chair back from the table and walking toward the basement door. Carly and Tessa remained seated, watching him.
“Come on,” he urgently said again.
Reluctantly they stood from the table, following him down the dark steps to a far room in the basement, where he stopped in front of a large locked freezer.
“I bet the meat in there is really soured,” he said, as he pointed down to the freezer.
Carly took a hold of the old rusted lock then dropped it.
“So how do we get it open?” she asked.
Leon’s eyes searched the room as he moved through it, stopping at the bench that was attached to a wall, and removed a crow bar.
“I don’t think…” Carly started, stepping back as Leon swung at the aged lock, hitting it hard enough for it to break open on his second swing.
“Tada!” Leon sang out, as the lock fell to the concrete floor.
“Who would like to do the honors?” he asked them, but neither of the women offered, instead stepping back from it.
“Women!” Leon complained with a shake of his head, before he bravely grabbed a hold of the top of the freezer and pulled on it, finding it stuck. They watched his arm muscles flex, as he tugged at it with all of his might, finally hearing the hiss of the rubber, as it loosened itself, and the freezer top opened. The stench that escaped it was overwhelming, causing them to cover their faces with their hands and move further away from it.
“I guess we found your mystery girl,” Leon said through his covered mouth, moving forward again toward the freezer, looking down into it at the thick layer of plastic he knew entombed the body. He could see her empty eyes looking up at him through her bubbled plastic coffin. He turned and looked back at Tessa, holding out his hand toward her for her to join him. Reluctantly she accepted, standing with him in front of the freezer, looking down through the plastic at what remained of the once living being. Leon pulled the top of the freezer shut and moved back toward the basement steps, waiting at the bottom for the women to join him.
