| | | Behind The Iron Gate Aunt Claire had a secret... A secret she only felt safe sharing with her favorite nephews. There was something about the house... Something un-natural... Something evil. Dane was thrilled when he'd learned he'd inherited the old family home, hoping to stay, but his older brother, Jeremy, had different ideas. He wanted to rid himself of the monstrosity, and the negative memories that went with it. It would only be a few days into it, when the brothers would learn it wasn't their choice to make. The house had ideas of its own
The field was larger than it appeared, but Dane had to find her. He had to ease his brother’s mind. He walked for over a half-hour before he finally spotted the small wooden cabin hidden behind the old tall pine trees. Everything around it was quiet. Dane spotted an old well in the front yard, standing a few feet from the door. He stopped to examine it as he neared it, feeling the dryness of the water bucket hanging over the deep hole. It was obvious it hadn’t been used in some time, but he reasoned that electricity and plumbing had taken over the need for pulling water from a well. He studie | | | | Captive There was a storm brewing on the island, but something worse was infusing in Cole’s mind. He’d known Jade for many years, but she was off limits. She'd always liked him, but he'd never given her a second look before that morning, when a simple morning sail turned bad, leaving them stranded on an island. At first Cole tried to comfort her fears, but then he became one of them, keeping her captive.
Cole’s jail term was the price he paid for his crimes against her, and he came out a changed man. He assumed Jade was now married to another man. He had her in his heart, but he promised himself he’d leave her be.
Jade’s life however, had taken a turn for the worst. A damaging relationship, and a lack of money, threw her and her young son into the streets, ultimately leading her into the dark world of a bad drug addiction.
Cole became her rescuer when he found her on the beach, taking her into his home, and it seemed like a safe haven, but it proved not to be so safe after all.
Jade’s eyes opened to the dark room, drifting to the digital clock. The blue numbers read one a.m. She looked toward the bed where Sarah and Keith slept, cautiously pulling the covers back from her body as she slipped out of the bed. She hadn’t had a minute alone since Sarah had picked her up, and she needed some fresh air. White plastic chairs sat outside the rooms, and Jade considered sitting down, but instead she walked. The damp boardwalk felt cool against her bare feet, as she strolled over the wooden slats. She could hear the rush of the ocean calling to her. Her body lean | | | | Dark Light This story though fictional, is based on actual events.
For many years Ashley had suffered from a disturbing curse. She’d tried to ignore the disembodied voices that hounded her, but they wouldn’t leave her alone. The only person who knew her secret was her best friend Kyte, who longed to share in her gift. His desire was soon to be realized when he rented a haunted house for a Halloween party that would prove to be more than he’d expected. Dillon, a long dead beatnik musician had been deceased for many years, but he thought he was still alive until Ashley enlightened him. Now his mission was to follow her around, but even in h | | | | Deception Debra’s main fault was that she was too trusting of the wrong people, and when her already stressful life with her husband turned sour, she turned to the only real friend she had. Shamone and Debra were as different as night and day, but they’d still managed to remain close, long after high school. Debra had been Shamone’s solace from a bad home life when growing up, and in Debra’s time of need, Shamone was ready to help. Debra’s need for a temporary escape, took them to the mountain cabin that was given as a gift to Debra and her husband, Brad, when they were married. A peaceful retreat for Debra to clear her mind, but when Shamone met the new neighbors, Debra’s peace was interrupted.
The waitress soon approached them. She was a young girl, not more than seventeen. Her long reddish hair was pulled back into a ponytail. Her eyes were a blistering green, and she chewed gum, snapping it several times as she stood beside the table.
“What can I get ya?” she offered.
Debra looked at Brad for direction.
“Our regular?” he asked Debra as he looked back at her.
Her head nodded, listening as he ordered a large half cheese, half pepperoni pizza.
They sat quiet for more than ten minutes, before Debra broke the silence. “So when were you going to tell me | | | | Echos An evil man named Strautus Brennon, lived early in the 1800’s. He kept slaves of black and white color, torturing and disposing of them without ever having a thought of remorse, but his worst sin was toward his daughter, Ella. She suffered the cruelest of heartbreak from his hands, dealing with the physical and mental anguish he bestowed upon her. Forever a prisoner to the walls in which she dwelled, her soul cries out for freedom, waiting for the one person to come along who can set her free, so she can escape her father’s persecution. Death was only a state of being for Strautus, and even in passing he rules, spewing his foulness to anyone who dares to step in his path.
Tessa had no idea of the history behind her new home, nor that the previous residence were still there, but she became quickly aware of them when they started taking over more than her mind...
“Come on,” he said back, moving his chair back from the table and walking toward the basement door. Carly and Tessa remained seated, watching him.
“Come on,” he urgently said again.
Reluctantly they stood from the table, following him down the dark steps to a far room in the basement, where he stopped in front of a large locked freezer.
“I bet the meat in there is really soured,” he said, as he pointed down to the freezer.
Carly took a hold of the old rusted lock then dropped it.
“So how do we get it open?” she asked.
Leon’s eyes searched the room as he moved thro | | | | In The Arms Of The Angel It wasn’t that Breanna didn’t know what Tristen was like before she got involved with him- she did, but she couldn’t help her attraction to this hypnotic Adonis. And she also knew that nothing could ever come from her fantasy of him, but something did. She couldn’t believe it when she learned that he shared her same feelings, but her dreams were quickly diminished when she also learned the truth about his hidden activities with an evil cult. For the love of her, he would give up everything, but it wasn’t that easy, and his past soon haunted them, when his sect drew her into the evil fold to lure him back, inevitably frightening her away from him. The journey of love was a difficult venture for them, condemned by the face of evil, and saved by the Arms of The Angel.
Tristen nervously looked down at his fuel gage as he flew over the raging ocean, singing to himself to take his mind off the flashing red light indicating his fuel was low. ‘Another thirty four miles,’ he told himself, as his eyes searched for signs of land, knowing he surely should see it in the distance, but all he could see was ocean. He’d been quite foolish not filling up the tank before he left, but his mind wasn’t thinking at the time, and it was an action he was sure to now regret.
He heard the engines sputter as they struggled to turn, then the quietness when they died. His he | | | | More Than Friends Julia's plan was simple. She'd make Aden notice her by trying to make him jealous, hoping he'd realize that they were destined to be. They'd already established a bond between them, but it never went beyond friendship, and Julia feared it would never move beyond that. Aden had no idea how to react to Julia showing up at one of his normal haunts. They were two different people who lived two different lives, and she was not the kind of girl who fit in with the uncultivated characters he often found himself with. But she was stubborn and determined, and nothing he could say would change her mind. She knew what she wanted, and she was going after it with a vengeance. It wasn’t that Aden didn’t care for Julia, he did, but he feared her like he feared nothing else. She represented the very thing that he’d been steering clear of, and he was just as determined to keep his life unattached and uncomplicated, as Julia was to have him.
She considered his final words, wishing she had the courage to tell him the truth. She did need him, but not for the reason’s he would think. Her heart had longed for him from the moment she’d laid eyes on him, and she wished she could make him realize how strongly her yearning really was. She rolled to her side, her hands folded beneath her face as she recalled the night. Going to that party was the worst mistake she’d ever made, and she feared she’d lost points with Aden, instead of gaining them. She should have been satisfied with what she had, instead of trying to make her relationship | | | | Mortal Sin From deep inside the woods, the chants and screams echoed through the night, waking Abby from her sound sleep. Her instincts told her not to go into those woods, to go back into the camper and drive as far away from there as she could, but she’d always been too stubborn to even listen to her own advice, and she soon found herself in the middle of a nightmare worse than any she could dream.
Father John’s church appeared at first to be a safe refuge. The young Priest did his best to help her, but strange things started happening, making her question everyone in that town. Her friend’s were missing, but she soon began to wonder; was she the real intended victim?
Father John, however, did not sleep. He didn’t want Abby to know, but he was worried. With all the evidence he saw back at the camper, he knew the fate of Abby’s friend’s was probably not good. He felt sorry for her, but he didn’t know what he could do for her that he hadn’t already done. He lifted the phone receiver several times to make sure it was still working, thinking it odd how it had stopped working. He’d never had problems with his phone lines before, and he had a growing suspicion the perpetrators were after more than Abby’s friends. He felt they also wanted her. He’d never had a | | | | One Night Stand It was a marriage that was doomed to fail. Laura had grown up to love the simple things in life, and though Jared was far from simple, she loved him anyway. He wanted to give her the world, but she didn't want to pay the price, and it ultimately tore them apart. Their love for each other was strong, but was it strong enough?
“Oh no,” Laura whispered. “Jared, no please,” she pleaded.
Jared looked up at her as his father’s fist hit him hard in the face, knocking him off balance and to the floor. His father took a fighting stance, urging his son to his feet.
Laura’s hand covered her mouth as she watched them, wishing there was something she could do to stop the madness.
“Come on, boy, show me what you got,” his father taunted him.
“No!” Ruth’s voice anxiously called out, as she looked from one to the other. Jared remained crouched down on the floor, shaking his head and he let out an unfa | | | | Send Me An Angel Becca hadn’t wanted to move to Boston, but her husband’s need for success, took precedence over her feelings.
Not only did Becca feel out of place being in unfamiliar surroundings, but her husband’s drastic changes, made her regret her decision to go. Stan’s new lifestyle became indifferent; he was drinking heavily, and his late hours robbed her of a husband, and their two young sons, of a father. His new personality made Becca fearful, and her brief escape one night on the Boston streets, led her to a chance meeting with Michael. He became her friend and her confidant, and his good looks, wit and charm, soon won her heart, as she had won his.
“He was her guardian Angel,” she’d told him, but was he? Michael was concealing a dark secret. A secret she could never know.
They sat across from each other, stretched out in the hot tub. She amusingly watched as the bubbles played with the hair over his chest. Her eyes closed as she pictured him and her together, their bodies entwined as they fulfilled each other’s fantasies. She let out a quiet moan, but his laugh shook her from her vision.
“Did I miss something?” he asked with amusement.
She felt embarrassed as she looked at him. “I was getting caught up in the moment,” she explained.
She could feel the hair of his legs against hers. ‘What harm would it do?’ she questioned herself. ‘If Be | | | | The Cowboy and The Lady After her hard breakup with Sten, Allie swore off men forever, but that was before her eyes laid on Cord, the dashing, somewhat aggravating cowboy, who owned the ranch across the street. A man she’d known for most of her life, but had somehow overlooked. Allie’s attentions became obsessed with Cord, and it frustrated her that she couldn’t capture his attention... but then she did, finding herself totally taken in by his good looks and charming ways.
Unbeknownst to Allie, Cord had loved her for many years, and though the thought of having her love him back thrilled him, he was afraid of it. Allie had always followed another calling, and he feared his settled ways wouldn’t be enough to keep her attention.
After a few months without her, Sten decided he wanted Allie back, driving back to the place he hated, to bring her home, and learning of her involvement with Cord only enhanced his desires, but after seeing Allie in Sten’s arms, Cord vowed out, knowing he could never trust her.
Fate stepped in-in a hard way, inevitably disrupting everyone’s plans.
Cord already had his horse saddled and ready to go, long before the evening set in. He thought about a moonlight ride, but it was a bit cold, and the ground was still mucky from all the rain, so he considered maybe that wasn’t such a good idea, ‘but the horse was already saddled…’ He stood at the stall’s opening as he tried to decide, opening the swinging door and grabbing the horses reins. ‘Might as well,’ he concluded, straddling himself over the saddle. Adjusting his seating before he clicked to the horse to move. He could hear slushing mud beneath the horse’s hoofs, as they paced toward t | | | | The Dead Forest Terry and her friends had planned the end of the summer camping trip for months, deciding that this time, they’d go to Black Bear Forest. It would be a long hike to the camping area, but for Terry and her friend, Amy, it would be an adventure. They were avid campers, and expert hikers, but nothing could have prepared them for the horror they were to face within the compounds of that forest. Not only were they confronted by escaped convicts, but bad became worse, when they found themselves stalked by something else. Something unnatural, that’s only instinct, was to kill.
Her eyes closed, her body shook with fear, her mind thinking of her family, and the life she was leaving, recalling how she had so wanted to go into medicine, but now that wasn’t going to happen. This was the last day… the last moment of her life, and she was spending it with the slime of the earth. Her anger mounted. She wanted to reach out and strike at him, but her hands were bound. Her eyes opened as she faced her assailant. She could smell his stench in the air, and her last prayer was that justice would be done. | | | | The Feast The flesh-eating creatures were released from hell during the solar eclipse; their mission was to kill and create havoc on the earth.
Through the darkness, the malevolent shift-changers watched their victims, waiting for their moment to feast. The evil beings roamed the earth in large tribes, believing that one-day their kind would rule, fearing only one thing…
From ancient times the clans of slayers evolved, being gifted with special abilities to overcome their enemy, but they were of human flesh, and had the lifespan of mankind, and many were killed over time. To each family, there was an appointed guardian, an immortal being of great strength, but they could not defeat the beast.
In this era, one of the slayers was to rise to his full potential, but he was a stranger amongst those he was to save, ultimately being accused of the destructiveness the town had endured.
It was the spookiest place Chester had ever seen in his life, and he didn't like being there, but he was following Bert, hanging tight to his rifle as he kept his pace. The iron gate squeaked when Bert opened it, its mantra lingering long after they stepped through it.
"I don't want to sound like I'm complaining or anything, but do we have to do this?" Chester nervously questioned.
"I don't like being here any more than you do, Chester, but when you're looking for the beast, you have to enter through the gates of hell," Bert explained.
