The stories are short and some will make you laugh while others will make you sad but the book is a full of a life well lived about a man who was liked by all who knew him. I'll Take You To Jail
In a perfect world a son takes care of his elderly mother but we all know that we live in a far from perfect world. In a small town in the heart of Iowa there lived an old woman and her son. Now the son drank a lot and at times became a bit of a handful but his mother bared with him as he was her eldest son.
The son continued to drink and one day pushed his mother to her breaking point and in a fit of rage she called the police. She had just had enough of his drinking and was going to teach him a lesson.
The police got to her house and she had them come in the house and talk to her hard drinking son. Much to her surprise he was able to hold a conversation with the sheriff and the police officer told her to just leave her son alone.
Well, she was enraged. Leave her son alone! He was the one who was causing all the problems and this was her house. She demanded that they take him to jail. The officer told her that her son had not broken any laws.
The old mother couldn't believe her ears. The police were going to do nothing. Enraged she grabbed an empty vodka bottle and began beating her son saying she was not going to put up with his drinking any longer when the sheriff told her that if she hit her son one more time she would be going to jail.
She couldn't believe her own ears. Take her to jail! She followed the officer outside and was yelling at him about the situation when a big mosquito landed on the sheriff's face. She raised her arm and made to slap him in the face to kill the mosquito when he caught her arm by the wrist and he told her “I wouldn't do that. If you hit me you're going to jail.”
Some how I don't think the police officer believed the mosquito was actually on his cheek. Incidently, our mother did not get arrested and taken to jail. You just have to love our mother, Irene McCord and our eldest brother, Tim McCord.
