About the Fox Tree Squirrel
First, you need to know that squirrels are excellent climbers, chewers and acrobats. They are efficient and creative at hiding their food stash. They hide a supply of food in the fall that will get them through winter. You may find lumps in your grass, and planters if you have squirrels in your area. You may even find one wrapped in towel that has been left laying around the pool area. Squirrels have a keen sense of smell and find where they stash their food even when buried a foot under snow. They mark their food with their scent either by licking the food or by marking it with the sweat from their paws so that they can recover it. Though the fox squirrel would be happy with a diet of acorns and other nuts, they will also eat fruits, seeds, insects, vegetables, bird eggs, some small mammals and the petals of certain flowers, such as roses.

Having recently finished reading "Nuisance Wildlife'by Sandie Freeman,
I must say it was an enjoyable and thoroughly engrossing read.
I was expecting the normal how-to sort of book,but was delighted to
find it more than full of wonderful advice ,it is that,however it is also full of true-life situations and stories and offers one an almost inside view of a Wildlife Rehabilitator's world.This book also features other rehabbers,two of the most fascinating and dedicated animal rescuers out there:Glenna Blackmore of Blackmores' Primates Plus Foundation in Torrance,CA , as well as Annette King Tucker of
Wildheart Ranch in Foyil, OK.
There are photos of each,as well as a heartwarming and equally heartbreaking story by Annette King titled " Boris: My Teacher'.This story is about a raccoon Ms. King rehabilitated after his encounter with what was more than likely a dog,and subsequent wounding.This story will reach deeply into your very heart and soul.
I will forever keep this book,as it is rich in information,and a wonderful reource book for any property owner,as well as an educational experience for the young,as well as adults.I was prepared to keep the book ,as the author is a good friend of mine,yet I am delighted to report that after reading it,not only am I proud of Sandie Freeman,and proud to know her,I really love the book!
