When My Heart Beats is a compilation of heart-felt poetry. This collection includes a variety of both short and longer pieces that range in theme from very light love poems and works of very deep devotion to the sharing of more sharp emotions such as love lost, anger, and deception. In all cases, the author does a very good job of bringing the reader into the mood of the piece. Each different poem seemed to remind me of a like situation, a remembrance, or a similar feeling. I found this effect particularly powerful with the themes that discussed themes of uncertainty, despair, and longing.
