EPILOGUE
Heaven opened wide it’s gates and poured sunlight through the beveled glass windows of the church. Ethereal gold streamed over the bride and highlighted her face as she walked down the aisle on the arm of her brother-in-law. Her gaze was for Victor Raven alone and her smile sent a message of her devotion to him.
He’s yours, Lauren. There’s no need to bring the letter up, not now. He need never know. You’ve kept it to yourself all these months. He need never know. Don’t rock the boat. He may push you overboard for being a liar.
When Adam put her hand in Victors and turned away to take a seat beside Raini, the moment of decision grew heavy on Lauren’s shoulders. She met Victor’s warm gaze and reached out to lay her hand on his chest.
“I have to tell you something, Victor.” She had whispered and was afraid he hadn’t heard her.
He leaned over to let her press her face to his neck and listened while she poured out her guilty secret.
“You have every right to walk away from me because of my dishonesty, but I was so afraid of losing you, I couldn’t take the chance you would do exactly that.” She gripped his arm, not noticing the petals that fell from her bouquet of white roses. “Do you understand what I did? I kept it to myself, hoping it would go away. That’s how much I love you.”
Victor cupped her cheek in his palm and chuckled even though there were tears in his eyes. “Lauren Kathleen Rose. I thought I was the only one with checkered past.” He motioned for the perplexed minister to give them privacy and gave her a wicked grin. “I understand everything you did and all the worry you’ve gone through. We did what we did for love.” Pressing a kiss to her ear, he whispered encouragement. “It all turned out very well if you ask me.”
She smiled through her tears and kissed his hand. “I’ll never ask for another thing if I’m with you.”
He took his handkerchief from his pocket and dabbed her tears away. “The minister is waiting. The guests think there may be fireworks again.”
She peered around his shoulder and found several hundred pairs of eyes trained on them. “I think that’s why so many came for the ceremony.” Her laugh was borne of complete happiness and her kiss to his lips one of daring proportion and elapsed time. “Lets disappoint them and quietly get married.”
They held hands and took their marriage vows, falling in love all over again, with just one look.
Nobleman's son, Todd Ramble, returns home after years abroad and finds himself falling in love with his step-sister, who was now a grown woman. Unfortunately their love is brutally challenged by his tyrannical father.
