Professional Reviews

Awakening to Golf Review from Lil
Awakening to Golf is not your typical golf instruction book. I have read many books written by golf instructors who expand on their theory of the swing yet no one focuses on how to actually play better while on the golf course. This book certainly awakened me to my true potential as a golfer, and it feels amazing to believe that I can become so much better.

An example is where the author gives detailed examples of how to practically clear your mind to get a good picture of what any golfer should try to attempt with a shot they wish to make, and assists them in finding the best way to believe in that shot. He points out that an avid golfer may have been told to visualize a shot before they make it, but this book teaches you why that is so important, and the best ways to create those shots!

I was really amazed to see how I have been overlooking some simple parts of how to create the total approach to making shots and I certainly am more aware of how I can transfer his simple methods to make me a better player. I really enjoyed his 7 secrets to a pre-shot routine. I am much more confident addressing any shot now. This is a MUST read for any avid golfer who is tired of taking many lessons and not improving or who practices well on the practice range but cannot take that swing to the golf course because they do not know how to focus their mind, emotions and belief of any shot in the right area.

I can see where these techniques can be carried into other areas of my life as well, and it brings to mind some sayings I heard - "change your thoughts and change your life", and "if you can conceive it and believe it, you can achieve it." I now have a lot to think about.

A unique spirtual approach to golf
I actually had the opportunity to study with Al several years ago as a student, and though his instruction was strong then, his shift into the more spiritual side of the game shows incredible growth as a teacher.

For many, golf is a passion...a way of life. As with all things we approach, we can choose to let our passions control us: the emotional swings, the physical challenge, the ups and downs. Or, we can choose to be the director of our own path. Al's vision is to bring a higher consciousness to the game, as you might to any pursuit or integral part of your life. This book is for anyone looking to bring their game to the next level by embracing the deeper parts of the mind and body.

Al has been working as a golf pro for over 20 years, and to say that the ideas in the book are part of the new evolution of golf instruction is to understate their importance. If you're searching for something in your game that you've not been able to find by watching videos, taking lessons, and studying swing mechanics, "Awakening to Golf" is what you're seeking.
