Prolog:
Jason, a man in his early 40’s had finally reached his home. It was a beautiful little quite town in a large field, yet not a ten minute walk away was a large seemingly endless forest. Jason had been gone for a long time, off on a trip to see an old friend. In is left had he held a Katana, still in its case, and in his right arm he held a baby, not even a year old.
Jason walked down into the heart of city; he passed villagers and waved with his left hand, holding the baby in the other. “What is that?” asked an old woman walking up to Jason. “It’s a new born baby, its going to live in are village.” Jason responded as he continued to walk, he didn’t want to talk to any villagers about the child. The woman’s face turned mad with anger “Are village doesn’t expect outsiders Jason! You know that!” the lady grabbed Jason’s and pointed to the village exit. Jason backed away form the lady. The Woman yelled causing a big scene. The two were staring each other down now.
“Everyone to their houses! Village lock down!” a man came threw the exit screaming “Zackerya and Gwenways forces just engaged each other about a mile away! Lock down!”
The woman flung her hands in the air “Outsider curse! Burn the outsider!” she yelled as she was pushed around by the panicking people. Jason began to flee to his house while he had the opportunity “The child stays!” the yelled as he disappeared up the hill.
Chapter 1: The beginning
A young man, barely 17 years of age walked into his small, cheaply built house. Another day of piling wood for the upcoming winter as the sun was coming down. It was time for the cold winds to blow leaving all that remained out side to freeze. Little did he know that they were watching him?
"You bring nothing good to this village Jason" said an elderly woman with wrinkles and moles on her face. Jason, a man in his late 50's was sitting next to her. He was a tall man with grey hair barely reaching the top of his ears. "He's human, and he was in need of help the boy has been in this village for 17 years, yet no one will expect it, no one even gave him a chance", He said looking down at the dirt filled road.
Jason was speaking the truth, he brought the boy to the village before he was able to speak, and he has lived in that house Jason build for him ever since. He was not allowed to go to school like the other boys simply because the teachers wouldn't let him. The young boy fended for himself, his only friend being Jason. No one ever gave him a chance.
"I will see to it that he is beheaded before the winter comes!" the old lady yelled into Jason's ear. Jason didn't respond, just stared at the house of the boy. "I have already sent a letter to lord Zackerya, once he hears he'll grant our town permission to kill the useless scoundrel in cold blood. No doubt in my mind", she said while walking away from Jason.
"When was this letter sent?" Jason responded.
"A long time ago, don't you worry; I'll fix what mistake you have made. The mighty lord Zackerya will hear of this and send troops here to protect us from such people. Then, he'll lock you away in jail for ever so we don't have to deal with your crap anymore"
Jason turned to the old witch with a determined frown. "That cold hearted bastard can try all he wants to kill me. All he cares about is power and ruling everything that our ancestors worked for. I'd love to push my sword through the stomach of that scum just to watch him die!
"How dare you! He is the all mighty Zackerya! You will pay for the mere though of such betrayal. You and that devil child you brought here! You will both suffer!" yelled the woman as she ran off to the larger part of the town.
It wasn't a large town. The center of it was where the school, the church, and the town hall were, surrounded by many houses. The outskirts were where the houses of villagers lived. It was also closer to road out of town and the forest which was used to get wood for fires and such.
Jason gripped the handle of his blade as he thought about what to do if Zackerya found out the boy was here. He picked up the katana next to him and walked down to the boy's home. Jason didn't even bother knocking as he walked in. The boy was putting wood on the fire in his fire place and didn't even notice him. Jason looked around the messy house and then grunted for the boy's attention. The boy turned around but wasn't surprised to see him. "Sometimes knocking is considered polite, but it's ok. What brings you here?" the young boy asked.
His hair was light brown and thick as it fell over his eyes. He wore tattered cloths and his face always with a cold stare. He never smiled, not even a grin. "Glad you're happy to see me. I have something for you" Jason announced as he placed the katana on the wooden table in the center of the room. The boy picked it up with his mouth wide open. When he pulled it out of it’s sheathe the room shined. It had a thick black and gold handle, and a round hand guard right below the blade. The blade was beautifully carved and was curved so only one side was shape enough to cut with. At the top it was curved both ways making it easy to stab into something. It was a work of art.
The boy put it back on the table and looked back at Jason who was grinning. "You didn't need to get me such a blade, but I thank you" the boy said while picking up the blade with two hands.
"Nonsense, I have been training you in the way of a sword ever since you were a small child and now you are almost a man. It is time you had one of your own", Jason said in a cheerful tone.
The boy sat down and put it next to the fire and then looked back at Jason.
"Where did you get such an amazing sword? Obviously not from around here, there's no way."
Jason opened his mouth but then paused leaving a large gap in the sentence.
"I…..I found it, in one of the old mines down by the river in the town over…" he said sounding unsure of himself. The boy stopped to think with a look of disbelief on his face.
"Who would leave it in a mine? That doesn't make much sense…" the boy said pulling it out of its sheath.
"Well, people do things like that… I guess." Jason said as he walked to the door. "It's getting late; I don't want to be caught outside in the cold. I'll see you tomorrow for our next lesson. Take care" he said before closing the door. The boy the put the sword by his bed and continued to tend to the fire.
Jason walked out of the boy's house and started up the street towards his house. He stopped half way up the hill to get a good look at the village. "It's no longer safe here for him. Luckily he's already more of a swordsman than anyone else I know. Soon the time will come for him to leave this place."
Jason continued up the hill to his home.
Chapter 2: A Date with Destiny
The birds chirped outside the boys house louder then anyone else’s. The boy arose from his hard as a rock bed to walk outside in one of the last warm days there would be before the winter took hold on the earth and swept it clean of plants and animals. The boy walked out of him home and took a look around breathing in the fresh morning air. The boy looked across the street to see the nabor boy, Saormr, showing off his sword skills. Saormr hated the boy, ever sense they meet. His mother once invited the boy to celebrate his birth day with them, but he shunned the idea. “I don’t want him over here, he might live in the village, but he’s still different, he’s still an outsider by mine and everyone elses standers, ever sense he came here things have been uneasy, he’s a devil! A curse!” The boy then sat on a rock across from his home looking up at the sky,, just thinking, about what ever he wanted, being free from all the worry’s in the world, he blink once, and suddenly the Sky was dropping a little rain onto the earth, and sun was unable to be seen threw the dark clouds passing by.
“Kill the Scum!” came a faint voice from down the hill, the boy rose to his feet and walked up the small hill to get a look at what made the voice. “Kill him!” it yell again, before the boy could see what was going on a flaming bottle was thrown landing only inches away form his feet. The boy jumped back and when he looked up he saw the whole village in front of him, with touches in hand and all screaming at him. He backed away, confused and out numbered, but not scared, never scared.
Out from the crowed walked the wrinkled lady with a piece of paper in her hand, she stood only a few feet away from the boy and yell at him “ The Great lord Zackerya has blessed us, giving us lawful permission to cleanse are town of the devil child, kill him! Burn his house down! Lord Zackerya has demanded it!” screamed the lady as 4 men masked with battle axes and long swords walked forwards towards the boy.
The boy backed away from the 4 men, as he had no weapon at the moment. As the other villagers started to set fire to his house, he heard a familiar voice yell from behind him “Acacia! Watch out!” Acacia jumped back right before a massive axe smashed on the ground infront of him, then Jason jump over his head and thrusted his sword threw the mans neck, then jumped back as the mans body fell to the ground in a pool of blood. “I’ll hold them off, get the sword! Don’t let it burn!” yell Jason as ducked a swing that would have taken his head.
Acacia grabbed the dead mans ax and charged threw the crowd of hate driven villagers, send many flying off the sides as he rammed right threw his burning house. two men inside the house were examining his sword, then one pulled it out of the sheath and looked towards Acacia and screamed “Die Devil!” right before running towards him at full speed. Acacia easily side steped the mans swing and knocked him clean in the face, sending him flying back into the flames. “its my sword! And I will not be killed using my own weapon.” He yelled as the put the sheath on his belt loop and let it hand there, he then turned around and pointed his Katana the flames towards the blood thrusting villagers who all backed away in fear. His face cold with determination. He ran right threw the crowd as they all ran away in fear of there lives.
Acacia ran towards Jason who had had just finished off the last of the men, his face was covered in blood. “Jason! Are you alright!” Acacia said when he reached him. “I’m fine, but you cannot stay here any longer, as you already know. We have much to talk about, there is a reason this has happened for- look out!” Jason screamed pointing to a figure jumping with sword in hand towards them. Acacia rolled to the side and Jason did a back flipped a faced the attacker. Saormr rose and pointed his blade at Jason “devil helper, you will suffer the same fate as him” Saormr said lunging at Jason. Jason jumped to the side and stabbed at Saormr, but he jumped over the blade and vertically sliced Jason’s stomach sliping his blood over the dirt floor, Jason dropped his sword and fell to his knees. “No!” screamed Acacia rolling in and slicing at Saormr sending him falling back and dropping his sword. Saormr reached for his blade but was stopped after feeling cold metal on his neck “I should kill you right here, You son of a bitch.” Acacia said with fire in his eyes, Acacia jumped back and grabbed jasons dying body before running into the woods. “you wish you did…” Saormr said with a smirk.
Acacia never looked back to the village; he never would have to, never again.
“Jason! Wake up! Look at me, I need answers! Who exactly is Zackerya, why has he done this? I don’t understand!” acacia said putting Jason up ageist a tree. “Acacia, listen.” He said in a soft out of breath tone. “You must save this world.” Acacia looked at him confused. “What do you mean?” “Save it from the evil it has been corrupted with. The lord…Zackerya, is power hungry monster, he wont stop until he’s destroyed everything are ancestors worked for, he controls this world we live in, the most of it anyway. I have seen you grow up Acacia, you are more powerful then any one I kno, only you can save the people of this great land Acacia, believe me. its your fate.” He said gasping for air. “I still don’t under stand, how will I do that? Where do I begin.” Said Acacia. Jason reached into his pocket and pulled out a map, one it was what seemed to be a huge world, to large islands apart from each other, and many smaller ones in between. “Fallow this road.” Jason said pointing to the map “its not far west from here, follow it until you reach a town, the town of Norris, Acacia, the only to win. Is to become stronger, go out into the world, the world I never got to see, and save this beautiful land, in Norris, find a dojo, tell him you know me…” with that, Jason shut his eyes, and took his last breath of air before dying.
Acacia stood up, and looked at Jason, his only friend’s dead body. “I will, I will kill this man, and bring peace to this world you loved so much.” He said as he put Jason’s sword next to him and look towards the West, the Clouds were leaving the sky now, and one ray of light beamed down from heaven shinned one Acacia’s face as he walked off into the world.
Chapter 3: Meeting the Master
Acacia new nothing of this world outside the home he lived in for so long, not the towns, not the creatures, no dangers he would face in order to become strong enough to cleanse this world of evil, he still didn’t even under stand how he, a 17 year old kid, not even old enough to drink, was so post to kill a lord. If only Jason could have told him more about this sword and his mission, or why it was he that this burden must be put on him, and not someone else.
Acacia walked along the dirt path threw the thick woods, the sun was blaring and it was nothing but him and the wild. Just from standing out here in the woods, Acacia could already tell how beautiful this large and vase land was, but he still didn’t think it was worth saving though, if a whole village could unit to kill a boy who had done nothing to them, what would lead him to believe the rest of the world was different, and if it was the same greed hate anger that exist in his home, then this world might as well rot in flames for the rest of existence. But something still drove him to understand why he cannot let that happen, even if it means his life.
“Who must I look for at this dojo anyway?” Acacia said out loud to himself as he stopped to take a look at his tattered work cloths, burnt a little on the side and with holes and blood stains threw out it. “probly the master of it.” said a voice from right behind him. Acacia turned around to see man a little taller then himself with long strait hair, a little bit of body armor and a huge Claymore tided on his back. “Your heading to Norris no dought, just walk in and ask to see master Rusesu.” Said the man as he spend off passed Acacia. Acacia couldn’t think of much to say. “Thanks…sir.” Acacia responded. “Zeor, please, just call me Zeor.” Said Zeor as he turned around and held out his hand towards Acacia. “And you are?” he said with a grin of his face. “Acacia.” He responded shaking Zeor’s hand. “I see, what brings you too Norris?” asked Zeor. “Training, adventure, personal matters more then anything I guess, yourself?” Zeor cracked his neck and said “trading, and some food finally.” Zeor began to run up the path. “See you later” he said before disappearing deep into the trail.
Twilight covered the sky as Acacia approached the entrance to the town of Norris. There were two guards sitting outside the entrance to the town and he could already here the town’s people talking to one another. As he entered threw the city fences he was enclosed in large stone building and many shops selling all kinds of good. With all the people around, it was harder to move threw the town then it was to escape his old. At last he saw a sigh up ahead; it read “Rusesu’s Dojo”. Acacia turn the corner where the sigh was and saw a fairly small stone building.
He opened the steal door to the building and walked in side. he looked around the room and saw at least 12 students in formal dojo outfits fighting among each other, some hand to hand combat, others sword fighting. Acacia lend up on the wall and just watched them train admiring such grace and talent these students had. He wondered how he would do in a sword fight against the female fighting with a wooden sword to the far right of the dojo; she was fast and seemed to be the most talented here. The girl moved swiftly dodging all the strikes from two other students, and then with a giant swing of the wooden sword knocked both her opponents down to the ground. Acacia couldn’t help but clap.
“may I help you good sir?” said a voice from the right of Acacia. He looked over to see a man in his late 20’s, his head was shaved and he was wearing an official dojo uniform. Acacia cleared his throat “yes, I’m looking for a master Rusesu, do you know where I can find him?” The man grinned “I’m Rusesu, owner of this dojo, let me guess, you are Acacia?”. Acacia looked in disbelief “how did you know my name?” Rusesu chuckled. “Jason has told me much about you with his visits to town, he claims you are amazingly talented, and will be the greatest swords men in the world one day.” Rusesu walked over to the exit of the dojo “come, we have much to talk about.”
Chapter 4: A History Lesson:
Acacia and Rusesu walked out of the dojo and sat down on a bench near the entrance “so, Jason tells me of your progress as a swordsmen” said Rusesu “he says you’re the best, now what brings you hear to my dojo anyway?” Acacia looked down at the blade Jason had given to him and said “Jasons dead.” Rusesu didn’t say anything and just looked down. “the last thing he told me to do was come here to improve my skills, he wants me to “fight evil” or something, I still don’t under stand, so maybe you will.” Rusesu rubbed his chin thinking for a moment. “he once told me that evil has been swallowing this land whole, I don’t disagree, Zackerya has be ragging wars with the other free lands that aren’t under his control, and ever sense he took control as the king, the people of this beautiful world just havint seemed the same.” He stopped to think, and then continued on. “I have seen monsters, horrible creatures roaming this land, monster that you can only look up in the history books.” Rusesu looked at Acacia and said “do you know the history of this land we sit on, how it came to be? All that stuff?” Acacia took out the map and showed Rusesu “No, I know very little of this place, I have been confined to that tiny little corrupt village, I have never really thought about it, but I do have this map Jason gave me before he died, I don’t under stand the markings on it though.” Rusesu took the map and studied it. “I’ll tell you the history of this land we walk on, and basic idea of this map.” Rusesu took a deep breath “long ago, all the people of the world lived on humongous masses of land, all connect to one another. A huge war broke out between all that lived on it over power. A large group of people that had no need to fight, and wanted peace, build the first boat ever made, they all climbed aboard and went off the home land into sea never explored. One day on there trip, the boat crashed into an island, it was the most beautiful land in the world, so these people made it there home, they called it Phoenix.” Acacia looked puzzled, “why phoenix?” he said. “they name it Phoenix because as soon as they land, they claimed that a huge blue Phoenix flew from the highest mountain on the island and welcomed them and helped them build there community. Once it was all over, the Great Blue Phoenix disappeared, leaving the people to fend for themselves, yet when ever a blessing like a life being speared from monsters, or mass destruction was on its way to warm these people, the great blue Phoenix would be there to keep these people safe and give them hope.” Said responded as he looked up in the sky. “but I can still remember the flames of war, not even 18 years ago, so amazing we were able to clean are self’s up.” Acacia once again was unaware of what Rusesu was talking about. “What war?” Rusesu cleared his throat and said “it was a war for domination over this great land, it still continues to this day, but far away from here. Very far away, and is no where near as bloody, youth don’t even know about the horrible details about it, luckily. About 21 years ago a war started when Zackerya, the king of one province built up his army’s and attacked the other kings, beheading them and then moving on, it went into totally war, everyone for themselves, until Zackerya forces took over almost every province for himself, now things have claimed down, but everything is different, he’s taken control of the law, of the economy, he’s in totally control and no one can stop him.” Rusesu finished and took a long breath, he seemed as if he was going to cry, then he sat up at looked back at Acacia. “Jason often said that you, Acacia, were the only chance this world had at regaining its former beauty.”
Acacia looked at Rusesu, and then looked down at his blade. “He asked me to kill Zackerya and destroy evil, and that’s what I am going to do.” He pulled his katana from its sheath “Jason gave me this blade the day before he died.” Acacia held it out towards Rusesu. Rusesu carefully examined it “there is something written on this blade, but it’s in another races langue.” Rusesu said pointing out the Writing on the sides of the blade. Acacia shook his head; he didn’t know anything about the writing. “I can help you, I can tell you where you should go next on your quest if you want to destroy evil, but first, you need to prove to me that you have what it takes” Rusesu said as he stood up and headed back into the dojo, Acacia followed behind him.
Chapter 5: Dojo Dual
Rusesu and Acacia walked into the dojo. Most of students were still fighting one another, some were slacking off. “Attention! Young ones! Attention!” Rusesu screamed rising his hand in the air, all the students formed a line on the far right of the dojo. Rusesu walked in front of them. “To day is you lucky day, for those of you who have had a long day, you will get to relax, this will be a chance for you all to take good sword fighting notes.” He said as he picked up two wooden swords from the ground, he threw one to Acacia, and the other to the girl Acacia was watching fight before. “Shiba! You are my star pupil, please; show that young man over there the true might of this Dojo.” Rusesu said grinning over at Acacia. Shiba smiled when she looked over at Acacia and said “Yes master Rusesu! I will do my best!” she said right before walking into the center of the dojo.
Acacia and Shiba stared each other down as the whole dojo went silent, wanting for the battle to begin. They weren’t staring at each other like enemies; more like friend who haven’t seen each other in a long time, or parents making up after a fight. Shiba didn’t seem like the type that would be so talented in the ways of the sword. She was about Acacia height, long shinning brown hair that went down to her knees, but was tied in a pony tall. Her face was innocent, and didn’t look very threatening, but was apparently a force to be recon with.
The Bell rang without warning, and the battle began. Before Acacia could even think of his first move Shiba jabbed her sword towards Acacia, he dodged by barley an inch and got knocked on his side, without hesitation, Acacia jumped to his feet and blocked the next slice from Shiba i. Acacia pushed Shiba off his blade and then leaped towards her swinging to the right. Shiba barley side stepped, and then try cutting horizontally towards Acacia, but was blocked by Acacia blade. Acacia pushed back putting some room between them, Shiba regained her balance and ran at Acacia, trying to cut right threw him. At the last Second Acacia leaped over Shiba’s sword and landed be hide her. Shiba turned around and swung at Acacia, but Acacia ducked and slashed at Shiba, she blocked but fell back, Acacia swung again making her lose her balance, then he swung a third time causing her to drop her sword. Before she could drop down to pick it up, Acacia had his sword to her neck.
Any cheer from the audience ceased, no one talked, no one word from the crowd watching. Sweat dripeed off Acacia’s face and fell into a puddle around his feet. He dropped his sword on the ground and no one said a word, no student there has seen such an intense battle in there lives. “Impressive, you have beaten my star pupil.” Said Rusesu as he approached the center of the dojo. “Jason didn’t lie; you really are something, such grace and agility.” Acacia turned around and bowed his head, yet he didn’t say anything.
“Master Rusesu, I am sorry, I have failed” Shiba said shamefully “I will train harder, I promise!”. Rusesu put his arm on Shiba’s shoulder “no shame in the lose, let it be a lesson to you, become stronger threw your defeats.” Shiba bowed and responded “thank you master Rusesu!” then she walked back to the side of the room with the other students, she looked back at Acacia one more time and gave him a smile before going off to talk to her friends.
Acacia stood off to the side of the room while Rusesu finished the rest of the lesson to the students, then after 2 or 3 hours of sitting around, the sun was totally gone and even thing went silent as the students left. The group of girls giggled as they passed Acacia and some waved to him, yet Acacia paid no attention to them. Rusesu walked over to Acacia after the last student left. “Sorry about the wait, I had to finnish to days lesson.” Said Rusesu. “don’t worry about it.” Acacia responded. “you are an amazing fighter, I have to say, Jason has taught you well.” Rusesu said putting him arm around Acacia. Acacia gave him a dirty look, and then Rusesu took his arms away from his and put them behind his own back. “Yes, well, as I expected, you passed my test, you are much more talented then anyone else your age, hell, you more talent then most people 50 years older then yourself. Now, hand me your map.” Rusesu handed out his hands, and Acacia handed him the map. Rusesu went to his desk and pulled out an ink feather and made a red dot in more highly wooded area then the one they were already in. “that dot is a small village, the villagers aren’t that friendly, but they have there reasons, if you have what it takes to fight evil, you will go there, once you get there, you should know what to do.” Said Rusesu as he opened the door to the Dojo. Acacia nodded and walked up to Rusesu “Thank you, for all you have done. I will go to this place.” Acacia said looking out the door. Rusesu Smiled “I have a present for you before you leave though, wait here.” Rusesu walked into the back room of the dojo, after a few minutes he walked out with something folded in his hands. Rusesu unfolded it and let it hand down; it was a black Trench Coat of some sort, it seemed old and used, some parts were faded and other seem a little discolored, it was still in good shape though, it was zip up and came down to about Acacia knees. “What’s this?” Acacia asked taking it from Rusesu’s hands. “It’s a Trench Coat, made from the most comfortable material in the whole world, and the warmest, Tetan, I believe the stuffs called. I have had this trench coat for some time; it’s been passed down to the owner of the dojo for generations, now I am giving it to you.” Acacia nodded his head and examined it, he noticed what appeared to be a red bird on the right sleeve. “What’s this bird?” Acacia said pointing out the red bird. “Why that’s the Great Blue Phoenix!” Rusesu said with a laugh. Acacia raised an eyebrow “if it’s the Great Blue Phoenix, whys it red?” Rusesu grabbed the sleeve and laughed a little. “well, it was so post to be blue, but I had no blue yarn when I sowed it in there, it was only a couple days ago I decided to do it. All I had was red, but still, as long as it’s a phoenix, its good luck.” Rusesu said. Acacia nodded and put his sword threw the loop on the left side of the coat, then he slipped it threw his arms and put it on. The fit was perfect, not too tight, but not to lose. Rusesu grinned “you look like a hero already!” Rusesu laughed. Acacia looked down at himslef “I guess if you say so.” Rusesu put his hands in his pocket, and just looked at Acacia. Acacia said “Rusesu, thanks, I think I am going to head out now. it doesint matter how dark it is.” Rusesu understood “Good luck Acacia, I’m putting all my hope into you, hopefully one day we will meet again.” Acacia agreed, and then walked out the door; the cold wind blew his hair every which way as he disappeared into the dark night.
Chapter 6: Horror from the Swamps
Acacia’s Coat swung like a swing set in the wind, back and forth as the wind pushed it back, and then let its grip loosen and allowed it to fall back down to his knees, only to be swept up again in mere seconds. Acacia was back out into the woods, not following a trail, he was passing threw brush and walking around trees now, the fastest way to get to where the dot on the map was he thought. He left Norris hours ago, and had been walking in the cold autumn night without stopping, he didn’t notice the cold though, he wasn’t sure if it was because he didn’t care, or the trench coat was keeping him so warm. “ah!” Acacia yelped as he tripped over a root sticking out of the ground, his face hit hard in the moist ground.
Droplets of water hit the side of Acacia’s face, he turned to his side to look up to a cloudy day time, light rain was falling from the sky. He arose from the ground and wiped mud off the side of his face, he must have been more tired then he thought last night. He got up and his feet sank into the ground slightly, he then took a good look around. The trees were all dead, and there was a tree knocked down in front of him. It stretched across the mud until it sank into a lake of disgusting water surrounded by small patches of grass and rocks. Acacia walked onto the large tree and sat down looking around the area. “I have never been in a swamp this big before, it’s humongous.” Acacia said. He could hear leaves and branches snapping behind him. He turned around quickly and yelled “Who’s there?” Zeor was walking towards him. “I didn’t think I would find you hanging around a place like this.” He said approaching Acacia. “I’m on my way to some sort of village.” Acacia responded pulling out the map “do you know where this is?” Acacia said pointing to the dot on his map. Zeor pondered it for a minute. “Well, it could ether be two places, Bregington, or Morwall.” Zeor looked up at Acacia and grinned “but, I image your looking for a fight, so I say you should look for Morwall.” Acacia nodded, “Morwall, I’ll remember that name.”
The two started discussing there back rounds where they come from, both Acacia and Zeor had a feeling they would be seeing a lot of each other. “What are you doing at this swamp anyway?” Acacia finally asked. Zeor looked up at the sky “everyone needs a place to relax, this was mine when I was young.”
A loud bubbling noise came from the watery parts of the pound. They both turned and drew there blades, the bubbling was getting louder and the water seemed to start to part. Before a word could be spoken, a gigantic green head smashed into the tree, sending both sides of it up wards and then began to slowly sink into the Swamp. Acacia stabbed his sword into the tree truck and hung from it. His heart raced as he saw the jaws and mouth of what ever caused this rise form the waters and remain open letting the trunk slowly sink into its mouth. Acacia pulled himself on to the top of sinking tree and jumped off, landing on a wet grass clump in the middle of the swamp. “What the hell was that thing?!” Acacia said out of breath, he looked over to Zeor who was kneeling in front of the water. “Some relaxing stop you have here Zeor!” Acacia yelled over to him. Zeor looked over to Acacia “such a beast never lived in this swamp before, things have changed.”
Suddenly, the beast crawled out of the water, knocking over trees and sending birds and owls flying away. The monster pulled its self on to the opposite side of the swamp from Acacia and Zeor. It turned around half way and eyed the two, its scaly body dripped and its long green tail wrapped itself in a cercal, it almost seemed to smile.
“What is it?” Acacia yelled “an alligator?”. Zeor nodded his head and went into fighting stance. The alligator beast opened its mouth and let out a soul freezing roar. Saliva flew everywhere and the two warriors were nearly knocked to the ground. With that, the monster crawled into the water and began to swim with amazing speed towards Acacia. Acacia jumped to a near by rock seconds before the monster bit down on the patch of grass he was on, destroying the floating plat form. The Beast turned around and opened its mouth towards Acacia; it swam towards him until Zeor leaped threw the air on to its back and sliced the back of the beasts head, sending a sea of blood squirting out. The beast rose up and sent Zeor flying back into the murky waters. Acacia took the opportunity and leaped from the rock and grabbed onto the monsters left hand, he climbed up on to its back right before the beast plunged back into the water.
Acacia held his breath and latched onto the monsters scales. It began swimming around the swamp, looking for ether of them; Zeor had already made it safely to a grass patch above the water. The monster drove darted randomly around the swamp with its head poked out for a better look. Acacia began to climb the scales and slow made it up to the top of the beasts head. Acacia managed to get out of the water and onto the neck of the beast, he hung on to the scaled of the beast while taking in as much air as possible, he felt his lungs fill with sweet salvation as pure air filled his body, bring his vision and mind set back to normal. Waves of water splashed in every direction and his hair blew back feeling as if they would rip right of his scalp, he hadn’t realized how fast the monster was moving. The beast roared in pain and blood from the front of its face poisoned the air, Acacia looked up to see what appeared to be balls of light flying over head and some exploding in the water. Acacia ignored them for now and continued to climb up the monsters neck until he reached the top of its head. Acacia kneeled on the top of its head, looking down to see blood marks and scratches all over its face. Acacia crawled over to the top of its eye and jammed his sword into it. The monster moaned in agony as it lost control and began swimming in every diction, Acacia jumped back and held up his sword high in the air, with that he lodged the blade deep into the beasts forehead, Blood splashed like a wave over his face, covering him in a devilish face paint. The beast waved its head back and forth and screamed out loud, Acacia pulled his sword out from the beast’s eye and was hurled forward as the beast went wild with pain.
Acacia flew into the water, he waved his arms franticly, but could not seem to get anywhere, the fall seemed to knock his brain out of place. Something reached out and grabbed his hand, and it pulled him up on a patch of grass. “Watch yourself kid, you could have been killed with a reckless move like that!” Zeor said to him, looking at the beast who had washed up on the far end of the swamp, blood pored from its forehead and dripped into the water around it. Acacia stood up and wiped the blood from his face “is it dead?” Acacia asked. “Look at it, of course its dead, why did you kill it?” Zeor responded “you know alligators always retreat once they feel the pray isn’t worth it, there was no reason to kill it.”. Acacia looked over at the beast’s body, its blood ozzed like a water fall. “it was trying to kill us! Wha-“Acacia said before being cut off by Zeor raising his voice “It’s an animal, of course its going to try and kill us, were food!”. Acacia put his head down, he new Zeor was right, he shouldn’t have killed it. Zeor continued before Acacia could think of anything to say “don’t get yourself down kid, we all make mistakes, but you better watch yourself out there Acacia.” Zeor turned and started walking into the woods. Without a word, Acacia did the same thing.
