In Pursuit of Prophetic Destiny
You cannot pursue what you do not desire and value. To pursue is to follow with intent to capture. It speaks of giving persistent attention to something. You can only pursue what you long for earnestly. Whatever you long for has to have worth to you. When God discloses your prophetic destiny to you, it has to take center stage in life. Dr. Mike Murdock, on page 85 of his book, ‘7 keys to One Thousand Times More’ provides the following principles for pursuit of destiny:
· Men do not decide their future; they decide the habits that determine their future.
· What you do daily is deciding what you become permanently.
· Nothing will ever dominate life unless it happens daily.
· You cannot change your life until you change something you keep doing daily.
· The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine. (pg 45)

3. Passion
Collins Concise Dictionary defines passion as ardent love or affection, strong enthusiasm, intense desire. We must be passionate about our prophetic destiny in order to pursue it. Passion is also compelling action. John Maxwell, in his INJOY leadership tape ‘The Power Of Passion’ defines passion as the energy of our soul. He further says that passion is the first step to achievement. Passion makes the difference between people who go all the way to the top and those who remain at the bottom. The power of passion is powerful. It is the fuel for accomplishment. Passionate people can die for what they believe. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who was assassinated for the Civil Rights Activism in 1968, said, “If you don’t have anything worth dying for then you are not ready to live yet”. Passion is like fire in the soul. Charles Spurgeon, because of his passion and zeal for the gospel of God’s Kingdom would at times preach up to 16 times in one week. A passionate person sees no impossibilities in the fulfillment of destiny. Man is so made that whenever anything fires his soul, impossibilities vanish. Get passionate about your prophetic destiny.
4. Persistence
Persistence is the quality or act of continued effort or existence. It is the ability to continue steadfastly or obstinately despite opposition. To be persistent is to remain unrelenting. Persistence is key to realizing prophetic destiny since there will be great opposition. In the struggle between the rock and the stream, the stream always wins by persistence. Persistence requires willpower. The key to willpower is want-power. People who want something badly enough can usually find the willpower to achieve it. A key difference between those who succeed in life and those who fail is the ability to persist through opposition and delays. Winners never quit and quitters never win.
Here is a story of a man who never quit: At 22 years old his business went broke. The following year he tried politics but was defeated. He attempted to start another business but failed. The following year a girl friend got sick and died. He won election to state legislature but was defeated in a bid to become speaker. Twice he ran for the United States Legislature and lost. Twice he ran for United States Congress but was defeated (1855 and 1858). He made efforts to become vice-president but was defeated. Yet he persisted and four years later became president of the United States. His name? Abraham Lincoln, one of the greatest American presidents of all time (1809-1865). Persistence translates vision into reality. As Abraham Lincoln said, ‘Always remember that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other thing’. (pg 49-51)
