Judith E. Vido is an incurable romantic. I mean that word in its original Byronian sense as opposed to the narrow Harlequin/Mills and Boon sense. It shows
in her writing, which is one reason I love reading her books. I'm incredibly cynical, and it shows in most of my reading. Yet I love reading Judith E.
Vido's books. All of them.
FOREVER AT YOUR SIDE is her latest, and I think her greatest. Also a wickedly funny title given what I know about it after reading it. Vido's always been
a perceptive observer and masterful reporter of human nature. In this book, though, writer and reader also have a whole lot of fun. She does this thing
where she tells a scene from one person's perspective, then another scene from somebody else's perspective, and if I wasn't familiar with Judith the author
I'd have no idea which character is similar to the author and which is an amazing feat of skill and imagination. It's a gift.
This is the kind of book you just want to race through as fast as humanly possible -- don't answer the phone, make the cat wait for food -- and then just
say "Wow!" Then read it again and wonder all along why the heck YOU didn't think of it. Well, you didn't because you don't have Judith E. Vido's talent.
That's why you'll read it instead of writing it.
What's it about? A bit of romance, a bit of humor, a bit of justice and/or vengeance and I love it when the line gets that blurry, a bit of western, a bit
of paranormal. A number of characters you won't forget and who I hope she writes about again and again. Does that sound wacky? It's not. It's a very natural
mixture. I didn't know that before, but now I do.
