Category:  Literary Fiction
Publisher: Ithaca Press

Type: Fiction

ISBN-13: 9780978711382

This story, which chronicles the life of Mattie Moorehaven, addresses not only the difficult and heart-rending issues of domestic abuse and child abuse, but it is also very much a study in hope, survival, and finding one's inner strength. This novel, although driven initially by the theme of abuse, carries the much larger, more positive message of finding the strength to overcome seemingly insurmountable circumstances and odds without selling out one's beliefs or morality.

Before she’s born, a perfect life awaits Mattie Moorehaven, with a loving family—Mom, Dad, doting uncle, two sets of grandparents—in a small, peaceful town in rural Pennsylvania. But on the very night of her birth, Mattie’s fate changes forever. Instead of the promise of a perfect life, Mattie is born into a world of pain. The events of that night start Mattie’s mother on a downward spiral into alcoholism. Eventually Mattie’s mother begins to invite some extremely ugly and abusive influences into their lives. Living in fear, unable to tell anyone what she’s going through, Mattie has to make some tough choices. But when you’re at the bottom, the only way is up. Through all her ordeals, a kernel of resilience remains inside Mattie Moorehaven. She’s a survivor. Does she have the strength to get revenge on the man who made her life a living hell, so she and her family can finally find peace? No Hole Deep Enough, is a searing examination of the effects of loss and child abuse, and is a heartbreaking work of fiction. It will keep you gasping as you wonder, right up to the very last, unexpected pages, exactly how much Mattie can bear. Mattie's story is a study of survival, self preservation and ultimately finding a way to face the emotional demons that pursue her throughout her life. She must find a way to bury the pain that haunts her, but she finds that there is No Hole Deep Enough.
