Excerpt
“Hey!” she heard someone shout.
“Up here!” She turned, feeling her hair swish with the jerky movement and looked up. Hanging out of a top bedroom window was a small girl waving happily.
“H- Hello...” she stammered hoping that the girl hadn’t noticed her hair and the uncanny ability it had to wave with her.
“Hang on a minute!” yelled the girl, “I’ll be right down!” Charli turned to leave three times but decided that she could never disappear onto the other street in time for the girl not to see her running away. She would just have to explain the hair.
“Great hair,” she said, “I can never get mine to do that.”
“You mean you actually try to make yours do this?” Charli pointed at her hair and looked at the girl in sheer astonishment. “I honestly had nothing to do with this,” she said indicating her hair again, “my best friend decided I needed a make-over.”
“I see,” she said, “My name is Kristin and you are?”
“Charli.” she said with a little more enthusiasm “I live one street over, and my mother is expecting me home so I really have to go.” Charli wasn’t expected to be home for another fifteen minutes but she was desperate to take her hair indoors, and out of public view.

She finds friends easily enough through her Church, but a Bully rears his ugly head. She soon considers what is the Christian way to deal with the bully, but soon finds that her Church has a secret of its own. A fine book for young teenage Christian readers, "Summer Secret" is a great gift for one's young daughter.
Jennifer finally ends up in Apalachia after barely escaping an attack. She soon learns about her destiny and how her actions will 'put a friend in grave danger'. With everyone refusing to tell her more Jennifer must find answers for herself.
