One of Morgan Flechley’s mobiles rang and a muffled voice said, “You’re going to be raided tomorrow.”
Before Flechley had a chance to speak, the phone went dead.
Fearing the worst, Flechley picked up a tablet computer and flicked between the camera stations sited in his garden and the surrounding woods. Carrying out another sweep, he established there were no police in the immediate area, so he flicked through the internal cameras.
Finding Chloe, his girlfriend, and her daughter swimming in the indoor pool, Flechley connected to the audio system and said, “Al and I have a bit of business to attend to, you okay?”
Chloe called back, “No, probs hun.”
Satisfied they wouldn’t be interrupted, Flechley glanced at Big Al, one of his minders, and said, “We’re likely to have visitors tomorrow. So, let’s get set up. Plan A.”
Big Al didn’t need to ask questions; in Flechley speak having visitors meant a police raid was imminent. Knowing what was required, Big Al went to a large storage cupboard and pulled out second-hand computer equipment. He started to set up dummy computer stations at previously agreed locations before turning them on and making sure they were working.
Flechley said, “Okay. Get a large shopping bag and two dummy computers for upstairs.”
Once Big Al had returned with a stout plastic carrier bag and had grabbed the two remaining dummy computers, Flechley led the way upstairs.
Once at the top, Flechley said, “So what d’you think?”
Big Al frowned; he hadn’t entered Flechley’s sanctum since Billy Hufton had finished working up there a few days before. He said, “What exactly is he supposed to have done?”

“A first-class comedy mystery thriller with perfect pacing.
I enjoyed the story, character development, and dialogue. There were plenty of plot twists that I didn’t see coming and that added to the book’s mystique. When I stopped reading to work, I found myself wondering what happened in the book, and replaying parts of the novel in my head to see if I could figure more out. It has been a while since I enjoyed a book this much. It’s a first-class comedy mystery thriller with perfect pacing. Not much is as it appears here, which is just the way fans of mystery, thriller and suspense will want it.
Jim’s Revenge had every element a good story should have. An intriguing plot, attention to detail, but best of all fleshed out, well-written and well-rounded character development. There’s an abundance of well-illustrated scenes that make you feel like you are right there in the story, and that’s something I really look for in a good book. It’s one of those stories that come along once in a while that makes you want to read it non-stop until you get to the end. I’m giving nothing further away here. And this, I hope, will only add to the mystery and enjoyment for the reader!
I’ll be looking forward to reading more from Andrew R. Williams in the future. I would definitely recommend this book. Although, for those who are linguistically sensitive, profanity is used and there are some scenes of a sexual nature.
A well-deserved five stars from me.”

So, after reading A R Williams’ First 2 Arcadia’s Children novels and eagerly awaiting the third I was somewhat surprised when this book appeared on my “because you read” on my kindle.
“Jim’s Revenge” is a pretty far departure from the two previous books. There isn’t a killer mutant space millipede or psychotic robot to be seen anywhere. Instead we get the epic tale of an elderly bloke who gets a part time job making brews for a bunch of office workers.
Yep, you read that correctly. Now obviously it isn’t as simple as that hence the “revenge” bit in the title. But I’d rather not spoil anything here except to say that Andrew R Williams has proved here, like many a good writer, that he isn’t limited to a certain genre.
Also his gift for writing really likeable, and dislike able characters is well intact! Jim our elderly hero is the sort of bloke you see in your local pub and have a beer with. He’s the next door neighbour who you ask your parcels to be delivered to when you aren’t going to be in. The high point of his day is feeding the ducks.
But, as the office workers he delivers the tea to discover: cross this guy at your own risk!
And speaking of the office (who’s name I genuinely laughed out loud at!) and it’s workers, well let’s just say by the end of the book they have got exactly what is coming to them!
All the characters are truly well written, feel real and I finished the book with a big old smile. An easy recommendation.
Jim's Revenge : Another enjoyable book by local author Andrew Williams. The well illustrated scenes that seem to place you right in the heart of the story (as with other works by this author). As soon as I started to read Jim's Revenge I did not want to put the book down. Twists and turns in the story and the excellent character descriptions gave me full visual insight - keeping me fully interested throughout - right to the very end. I recommend Jim's Revenge and give it 5/5* . An easy read and easy to follow. J. Morrow

This is a slow starter with so many variables that it didn't make sense in the beginning. To be honest, I had my doubts and thought to quite by chapter 4. Nevertheless, I continued and by the last page, I am glad I did.
Jim's Revenge is a witty, cleverly planned plot with so many happening at the same time that you get lost in all the details. With this book, details definitely made the story. Each scene another building block cleverly devised till the end. And the end result was fantastic. Revenge is sweet is a good description for this book and deserves a round of applause.
The dialogue is written in such a way that it pulls you in and keeps your attention. Through it, you really get to know the characters, one by one.
Jim, the main character is a pensioner. To curb the boredom he applied for a job across the street at Slobend, Fleecem & Skinnem. Without adding some spoilers to the review it definitely is good to know, because it forms the foundation of the plot. The entire plot involves the employees of this company and Jim learned quickly. All I am willing to mention is that practical jokes have a way to catch up to you. Watch out who you play with. Jim might be old but definitely not senile or stupid. After this, you will have to buy the book. Seriously, it will be money well spent.
The supporting characters were a mixture of sweet and sour, with a tangy twist which made it surprisingly witty. From drug barons to the damsel in distress, each character forms part of the plot.
The author's writing style is sharp and to the point which made it easy to follow, as well as fast-paced and enjoyable. Thanks for the book and the interesting reading time.
