As if the trumpet which sang Sapphire's Blues choreographed it,
from her window Sapphire saw children walking and riding bikes in the midst of drug traffic,
her keen eyes observed some children holding and tasting product stashes for hustlers,
which eventually began the development of their narcotic habits.
More so a development of pure madness in which the projects became infested,
for she also knew of many young girls who played Double Dutch - yet whom were troubled-touched
as their bodies and soul's were painfully & wrongfully molested,
some by people who were sworn by blood to keep them protected,
Best friends, Fathers, Uncles.... whose minds were conquered by a sexual poison and deeply infected.
So many times Sapphire would be consumed by hate and desperately try to escape,
with all of her might she would fight so her dreams would not deflate,
notably befriending hustlers with her heart who played for keeps at the highest of stakes,
"Lord o Lord," is what she bravely prayed at night
as her trumpet continued singing Sapphire's Blues, the next morning as soon as she would awake...

In Sapphire's Blues, Ingred Jeudy introduces us to Sapphire. In a true-to-life coming of age story, Sapphire's experiences have forced her to mature beyond her chronilogical age. She has learned to approach life in a unique way, that works for her, while many around her are failing to thrive and survive in her world. The story invites us into Sapphire's world and the ups and downs of young love from the viewpoint of the woman-child determined to beat the game. The book is filled with engaging dialogue and insights and as soon as you turn the last page you are left wanting more.
This book is not only a genuine page turner, it's keeps you hungry for more and she (Ingrid) feeds it to one portion after another after another!
The character Sapphire is spunky, sharp, and very wise yet at a young age and aggressively "stands up for something and falls for nothing!"
Can't wait until part II is released!
