Dear Dr. Mutt,
Today, after an altercation with a Beagle and a Lab, some policemen mistook me for a Doberman! I know I look sharp and ferocious, but my heritage is a hodge-podge of genes. I can’t honestly say who my grandparents are, much less who my daddy is!
My mistress informed the cops that I am only a mutt, but she said I was a good mutt and she was very proud of me. Should I hope to be more than that?

No. There is nothing wrong with being of mixed heritage. Most of the great canines of the world couldn’t tell you who their daddies are, so don’t worry about this. What is important is that you know who YOU are – a canine loved and appreciated by your mistress.
