In this, the third of a great series by D.L. Carroll, the boys and Sir Licksalot head off on a new adventure without the girls. This time they find themselves in the arctic region, where they meet up with Polar Bears, Harp Seals and Whales. Dressed in summer clothing when they left, they were sure they were going to die, until they happened upon in Ice Castle and entered the igloo that contained weather appropriate clothing and gear to keep them warm on their journey. From scary moments where they think there is no way they will live another moment, to moments filled with laughter and antics ... this is an adventure they come to love as they learn about Global Warming and how they can help to reduce the cause and effects of this scientific phenomena.

True to form D.L. Carroll has taken each book in her series up a notch in literary brilliance and captivating content. Her way with words is one moment witty and one moment engaging, in thoughts that go much deeper than what is seen at the surface. This allows for children to begin pondering what they have read and take the subject matter deeper if they so desire, by researching the subject on their own, or just enjoy as a great chapter book if that be their level of interest. Either way, this book will satisfy and not disappoint.

Sir Licksalot & The Arctic Fools by D.L. Carroll is the third book of the series of Sir Licksalot. Each story takes you on a new adventure. This book takes you to the Arctic region. Sir Licksalot and his friends go to the Arctic region, dressed in summer clothes. They end up frozen, but luck takes them into an Ice Castle where they find appropriate clothing to keep them warm in that region. They meet up with Polar Bears, Harp Seals, and Whales during their adventure. The book also has the message of Global Warming and how we can help reduce it and save our earth.

D.L. Carroll has come up with a book that all children will find endearing. It is a story with a message and also new concepts that will stimulate the curiosity of a child. The contents in the story are captivating. The author's literary descriptions are brilliant enough to enchant any reader.

The book is ideal for school libraries and children's libraries because of its adventure theme and the relevant message of global warming which is very important for any child to know and comprehend. The Whales, Harp Seals, and Polar Bears provide the excitement while one is reading the story. Sir Licksalot, Timmy, Bobby, and Danny take us on a merry ride. The characters are so well sketched that you start liking them at once. The book is funny and the reader does not know what is going to happen next. It has all the elements for a wonderful book - friends, adventure, excitement,animals, and a message.

What do you get when you combine great characters, a magic fountain, and a quirky dog? You get a fun filled chapter book to engage readers from page one. Sir Licksalot & The Arctic Fools is just such a story. It is one of a series of books about a dog named Sir Licksalot and the kids who own him.

The adventures start at the magic fountain. The beginning of summer vacation starts out boring but soon a cold trip to the artic region takes place when they visit the fountain during a campout and find themselves dripping in freezing water and ice crystals. From trying to keep Sir Licksalot warm to finding magical dog sleds and ice sculptures followed by polar bears and seals the fun and excitement continues.

Besides page turning action, realistic characters, and a strong setting, D. L. Carroll adds a mix of facts about Global warming, arctic climate, and natural habitats. From glacier caves to icicles the reader will not only be engaged and entertained but will learn cool things about science and the environment. Teachers and parents will definitely approve and kids will be none the wiser because they will be enjoying a good read.
